Bean Slicer super effective!
Very pleased with the bean slicer. It is very efficient and also easy to clean. Practical and what’s known as a good buy!

Thoroughly useless gadget - you're better off with a sharp knife!
I wish I had read the other reviews before purchasing - this is easily the least useful kitchen gadget I have ever owned. I had hoped for similar results to an old one that we used to have when I was a kid, but was sorely disappointed. - The rotary blades don't cut through the bean every time, so you end up with one side of the bean coming out as a full strip and the rest in mashed up small pieces - unless you are slicing very small beans, the slots are too small to enable free-running. - unless you work very slowly, pushing the bean down after each slice (in which case the blade doesn't cut too well), you have irregular sized slices, mostly too thin. - the cut bits fly everywhere: it would need some sort of cover/cowl or a bag tied over the outlet to keep them from pinging all over the worktop. I could go on, but haven't the patience! Suffice to say, I have returned to the very old-fashioned method: a small sharp knife and chopping board. Hold the bean on its edge and slice across it diagonally away from you, it is much faster, cheaper and easier than this useless machine. I am pleased to say that Amazon accepted the return with no quibbles.

Overall working
Overall I was disappointed with this item. The first time I used it it would not stick to the surface so it was difficult trying to hold it still while cutting the beans. It is very untidy in putting out the cut beans and also it tends to shred them as in the photo rather than nice tidy pieces. It is very difficult to get the cutters clean after use.

Bean Slicer
It's not as sturdy as I would have liked but it does the job. The suction mechanism is strong, but the weakness I think is the handle and without careful turning it might break; it has certainly bent on a number of occasions, but sprung back. However, for the price and overall I'd buy it again; it's certainly better than the "push through" type slicers, although you have to put up with shorter bean slices as a result. Personally, I prefer that as the slices cook more tenderly and its easier for freezing, but some people like spaghetti length bean slices.

Runner bean slicer
Brilliant little gadget. Wish I'd bought one years ago. Only two problems, that do not detract from its brilliance - unable to contain all the slices - have started to do it on a tray and scoop them up afterwards. Secondly the blades are very sharp - wash using a brush and take care to dry. I cut my thumb through a teatowel when drying it. Really love it. Well made, suction pad works perfectly.

Save your money, don't even consider buying this pathetic, cheap plastic product
It is reasonably priced for an item used annually for short periods only. BUT suction pad only just works, breaking away easily from a smooth acrylic tray surface. Blades give very poor cutting performance, sometimes leaving large chunks of bean, not neat slices, which makes for poor presentation at the meal table. My existing slicer is well over 60 years old, blades still sharp and I shall continue to use this machine in preference to this poor modern? replacement which is now kept only for emergency use.

buy one quick, chop, chop!
I had seen some poor reviews and hesitated about purchasing this bean slicer. I'm glad though that I did buy one as it is simple and easy to use, and it makes slicing runner beans a pleasure (sad I know but maybe I've just got low expectations). It does tend to spray the beans about a bit, so I do the job on a tea tray; that keeps it all in one place. I found that you can also do two beans at a time, yes turbo slicing. Would recommend.

Not fit for purpose!
The suction pad lever of my first one broke after 3 uses. I bought this one on offer so i could write a review! Who does the testing of this product?! It is very flimsy, suction pad just doesn’t work once you turn the handle a few times, the beans get stuck in the blades and the ones that do go through spew all over the place! I’ve looked everywhere for another make but can’t find one. Oh for mum’s heavy iron one that son threw out as being a health hazard!!

saw someone use this on a youtube cooking clip from the UK, couldn't find them anywhere in the US. they're the best for french cutting fresh green beans in a flash! finally resorted to buying a vintage metal one that needed a lot of work and was really expensive! one week later i saw that these were back in stock and went ahead and bought it. sure glad i did, because its very easy to use and clean in comparison. the suction cup is really strong, so it stays put too. it seems that this company doesn't keep many in stock at a time, so if they have it i would snatch it up. if they don't, just keep checking back. if i'd have realized there would be more in stock i wouldn't have bought that old one and saved some money.

Voor snijbonen gebruikt maar werkt niet

This bean slicer is absolute rubbish. The suction cap does not work for longer than a second even on a polished glass surface and it cuts the bean into 1mm slices (but only with someone else holding the base. It went in the bin about 3 minutes after its trial
