Beautiful book!
Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson is such a fun and sweet read! It's about a little monkey who's lost his mom, and with the help of a butterfly, he meets all sorts of animals while searching for her. The rhyming is super catchy, and the illustrations by Axel Scheffler are bright and colorful, making it really engaging for kids. It's a great mix of adventure and heart, perfect for a bedtime story or just a fun read with little ones.

A monkey journey
A beautifully written and illustrated story that keeps my son entertained every time we read it. He loves following the little monkey’s journey and guessing which animal comes next. Another fantastic Julia Donaldson book for little ones

Very exciting and enjoyable
I always wait until I have read the story to my second language English Austrian primary pupils before I write a review. Some people forget that the stories are for children and NOT for adults who criticise the style, plot, rhyming, pictures, etc. Sometimes it is " the singer not the song" when reading a story for enjoyment. I thought that two things were very clever in this story. First, the fact that elephant is pointed out again near the end, and that the butterfly has to explain that HIS children do not look like him. There were many bright colourful pictures on each page, which stimulate the children's imagination and knowledge of nature. The descriptions were very clever, and great fun was had by the pupils when guessing which animal would next be shown to the little monkey. Poor old Butterfly tried very hard, but the story had a happy ending. Overall I thought that it was a super story, and just as exciting as "The Gruffalo", " Room On A Broom" and " Superworm ". For the follow up work I would like to be able to buy the " Monkey Puzzle Drawing Book" if there was such as book. I am hopeless at drawing.

Very nice story
Love this book, great story but there again, when does Julia Donaldson let us down? Apart from Jonty Gentoo - that’s rubbish. This however, is good. Buy it and defo buy it in a board book form for younger kids.

Teacher / parent review. This story ticks most of the boxes for me. It is a clever way to introduce a variety of issues to discuss with your child. It can be as basic or as serious as you want it to be. Firstly it’s a great way to start a discussion about what to do if you are ever separated. The butterfly can be a metaphor for explaining to your child the type of person they should seek out for help in that situation. It is also a great way to discuss difference and how you may have a parent that doesn’t look like you, but they are still their parent. This could be as hardcore as adoption or as simple as explaining how a pet needs a parent. Parent perspective. The illustrations are fantastic, the story rhymes and is excellent in the flow of wording. The ending is beautiful with a great reuniting of mum and bub.
