Quality
Excellent first stage stone, removed steel quickly with even scratch pattern that is not horrendously deep, easily polished out with King 800 grit. It's first use was on a vintage Sabatier cleaver, I thinned it half an inch back from the edge, so needed to remove a lot of metal. Worked it through to 12000 grit, then stropped on leather with compound. It cuts like a laser. The impressive feature is the hardness of the the stone, I have a selection of course grit stones but they're all much softer and need constant flattening, this one didn't. It's slightly smaller than the king deluxe but I managed fine with a mid sized cleaver. I am a expert sharpener and worked professionally for ten years as a Togoshi (Japanese sword polisher) and am happy to highly recommend this stone.

Does the trick!
Really pleased with this little stone. It isn't very big, but it is cheap and easy to work on and it only required a few minutes' effort to repair a 1.5mm chip, before moving on to a 1000 grit to sharpen. Hard to know how long it'll last but has already paid for itself.

To sharpen damaged chisels
As a stated 220 grit I found the flat surface too fine and less coarse than two I have already. However the sides of the stone felt much more like what i needed but of course I cannot work on the side of the stone to repair a 1 1/2 “ chisel. The chisel hit a nail. That sort of repair necessary

La pierre a aiguiser est un classique, celle ci permet de récupérer un couteau abîmé assez rapidement. Pour la suite utilisez une pierre avec un grain 1000/6000, par exemple. Pour info la pierre est collée au socle.
