It says in the name that it is an 18 inch ruler. Actually, it is 15 1/4 inches long, because the ruler starts at 2 3/4". It is not long enough to make the large dresden plate of my pattern, and I ended up buying a longer ruler from Amazon. I did not want the bother of returning it, so I just kept it. The name and description of it were misleading to me (although the picture of it was accurate--I wondered perhaps if the picture was wrong).
