Functional. Affordable. Adaptable. No problems out of the box with first ssd format.
Having used computer equipment for over 30 years, I've seen a lot. There is not a lot to gush about with this hdd enclosure. But that's just the point. It's very affordable without any bells and whistles. It does exactly what it is supposed to right out of the box with zero problems. That alone is a big thumbs up for me. I value no hassle. Opening is a snap. Place your thumb on the top, press down gently, and slide away from the USB port till it stops. Lift lid. Insert drive. Done. It's plastic and light weight, but at the same time not flimsy. I wouldn't go throwing it down the stairs, but I suspect that it could survive more than a few casual drops. Not something I intend to test on purpose. Included are felt vibration pad absorbers if users would like to limit the noise from 2.5 mechanical hdds or add a bit more fall protection for drives in general. It also includes a dual male ended usb 3.0 c-type connector cable, which is a bit on the short side. That can be good or bad depending on what you need it for. Personally, I think it would be excellent to connect to phones, laptops, and some desk tops. Though I highly recommend adapters. Two c-type to usb-A adapters (Like what I have for it) will go a long way in adding versatility to this enclosure, expanding it's backwards compatibility. It was immediately recognized under windows 10 with a brand new ssd. After formatting I was able to open it up just fine. Purchased for hdd testing and formatting. I think it was very affordable. I consider the no frills but simple elegant design to be a good perk. I chose to give 5 stars because out of the box and first use combined with 2 day arrival? I cannot find anything bad to say about this item. I hope you all find this review helpful in your selection.

Easy to use, solid product.
Works great. I put a 1TB drive in it, Velcro on the back, stick it to my iMac and just like that - Time Machine drive ready to go. No issues, simple install/setup.

It was easy to use.
It seems to work very well. It's connected to my laptop now. I leave one star for improvements! Thank you.

Great hard drive case for an SSD
I bought this case for a 2TB SSD to keep plugged into my Mac. It’s easy to install the SSD into, it just slips right in and closes with pressure tabs. It’s light weight and good durable design. Great value for the money, you can afford to get a few of them if you need to. I’d recommend getting 2 or 3 smaller SSD’s rather than 1 large one. Always back up your data!

Reliable
I've tested this device on multiple OSs, hdds and ssds, it has never failed me although its transfer speeds weren't always the fastest but oh well.

Would not work with SSDs
Tired 3 different SSD. Sizes ranged from 250GB to 2TB (nothing close to or over the stated limit). All SSDs had functioning filesystems on then. None of them were recognized when used with this device. (Another user commented that when an unformatted drive was placed in the enclosure it does not show up. I tested and confirmed that is correct - even partition tools do not see it. However, the SSDs I tested WERE functioning drives, in use, with partitions, filesystems etc.) A "connect your SATA HDD/SSD via USB" device i have works just fine with these SSDs - full access when I plug them to that device. So pretty sure the drives are fine. I tried a second PC and then a Mac - tried all 3 SSDs on each ... nuthin'. I tried a spinning HDD. Unlike the SSDs, it was recognized and accessed with the enclosure. It did however drop/disappear/dismount a couple times... but the particular drive I grabbed has known S.M.A.R.T. errors/fails ... I didn't spend more time digging up a good 2.5" drive ... doesn't matter - I need this for a SSD which clearly wasn't working out. So I'm left thinking that at the LEAST, this enclosure does not work with some SSDs and some systems. I specifically bought this enclosure to put an SSD I have on a router to share. So this item will not work for me to do that. I'm a but upset that he description states works with SSDs. Perhaps my enclosure was faulty? Perhaps there is some fluke with the drive I want to use AND the 2 other SSDs? ... Whatever the case, did not work with SSDs for me. I'm giving 3 stars b/c did work with regular HDD. Not terribly high quality, but seemed adequate build and materials. The tiny blue LED to show it's working/connected is really difficult to see, though - recessed so if you aren't directly lined up square to it, you don't see it. UPDATE - just got a different enclosure and SSDs work perfectly in that one. Totally worth paying the couple bucks more...

Nice quality, good deal.
Nice quality for the price, worked as advertised, good deal for a backup drive.

Very simple to insert/remove drives and it comes with a couple of foam pads to add a bit of protection inside. The enclosure is made from plastic, but it feels durable enough and it works well with a cheap 2TB Micron SSD I picked up. This is now hooked up as an external drive for my PS4 Pro console and I've have had no issues at all so far and the performance with an SSD installed over USB3 is good. The enclosure looks like it's also from Orico according to the box (another company that produces good low cost enclosures).

Great value for money. This is a sturdy case which is easy to open compared to some others. I installed 1tb drive for use on my laptop. This has worked faultlessly. It comes well packaged and even has the little foam pads to help secure the added drive. Have purchased a couple more to used on the Xbox and PlayStation.

Lasted just over a year with occasional light usage and died. Very disappointed!

I had an old Verbatim portable harddrive, that had quite important files on it, but the USB connector broke. After getting the actual drive out of its case, I realised that all needed that was needed, was a new harddrive enclosure. Research showed that there were soooooo many different brands, but I picked this one because it was USB C compatible. Installing the drive into the new case was a breeze and the overall item feels quite sturdy. The included USB C to USB lead is also a decent length. Very pleased with my purchase.
