This set of compasses comes in a decent plastic case, and the various instruments seemed well made, and accurate enough to fulfil my occasional need to draw a neat circle or arc.On opening the case, I gave all the components a short test.Both pairs of compasses work well and, providing you keep the leads sharp (use a fine emery board), will scribe accurate circles.The pen clamp allows you to use a marker pen (or pencil) instead of a lead, and the extension bar will allow a circle of up to about 24cm radius to be drawn.The quick release levers on the large compass work OK, and save some tedious winding of the adjustment wheel for wider settings.You have to undo a small knurled disc and withdraw a tiny bolt to fit the extension arm or the pen clamp to either compass, and it's easy to drop these small pieces and lose them. There are a couple of spare discs/bolts supplied with the set, but I would advise doing the procedure over a tray or something similar to avoid cursing as the bits hit the floor and bounce out of sight. Getting the bolts back in place, and everything in line, before tightening up, was a bit tricky on the first go, but I got better at it with practice. If, unlike me, you've got small, sensitive hands and 20/20 vision, you'll probably find it really easy!All in all I think that this seems like a nice bit of kit for an amateur circle drawer like myself to keep in his satchel, and I look forward to many satisfying encirclings to come!

Saved a chunk buying this instead of the next competitor up. Has a good deal of weight on it, the larger piece is easily capable of a radius around half the lengh of A4 Paper.I would criticise the packaging though, as it is more for display than long term practical use; The quality of plastic used in the outer case is fine, but the mechanical hinge and fastening joint holding the case shut are not strong enough to take a fall, and the backing tray inside the case is definatley not thick enough to endure heavy repeated use, simply filling underneath it with foam would have assisted that, also one of the thumb wheels on my set had came loose in transit, but thats not a fault but my warning to any customer like myself who likes to drop their new things when they first open them.Just a shame to me with the quality of the material outside the case, it couldn't be reflected inside, though the product itself is solid, I would like to feel comfortable knowing I have something to keep all the accessories together for a long time.PS you should also have a lead sharpener, I already have one in the cap of my mechanical pencil, would have been a nice touch to add one to the little lead pot, no minus here just a potential tip for the manufacturer, and advice for whom ever buys this, prepare your own sharpener or have super fat lines after 2 or 3 uses! Though, you should already be ready to replace your drawing implements, and you can also use the spare pins included to score lines, to save ink/pencil.

Just what I needed / works great. Solidly put together and well presented. Would recommend this over cheaper models that don’t do the job.

This is a great drawing set and very cheap. It is well engineered and will be very accurate in use. If you're looking for a bargain this is it. Don't let the cheap price put you off, under £10 and free delivery, this is an excellent drawing set which will last years.

I needed a compass to replace a very old one I had, so I had read many reviews on this particular compass some good and some not so. So, after using it for a good couple of weeks, I can say I wasn’t disappointed with it. However, changing the fitting to put the pen/pencil holder on can be fiddly, but being careful and methodical all is good. It is also good that they supply two extra screws if any do get lost.

The quality inferred by the price and the picture is not met with this product. Had to get the first order I made replaced and then the second replacement still had an issue. The compass is easy to bend (the first one I received came bent) which makes the compass point and pencil not line up properly. The large compass is the more accurate as the smaller one lines up even worse than the big one and the pencil is just too thick for the size of the small compass. Helix normally has good products but this did not impress me.

Excellent quality and loving it. The worm moves ever so slightly when using the quick adjustment but not detrimentally so. Can be a bit of a pain swapping pieces what with fully unscrewing the pins and then reattaching them but on the flip side it holds them very securely. Well worth the money.
