Overall Good for the Price.
Had to purchase this unit as my original wired carplay went out in my car and I NEED my maps and music. Didn't want anything overly expensive and was skeptical about the price, but tbus works amazingly! There is a little latency in the maps, I'm guessing due to it being wireless as opposed to wired what i'm normally used to. But it's not that bad and honestly the wireless is convenient with me not having to plug anything in. It connects really fast to my phone and supports the original cars bluetooth which allowed me to still have high quality music. It does have the option for FM and aux if you don't have bluetooth. It feels light but pretty sturdy and I love the little sun vison on top. Overall gets the job done and didn't have to break the bank.

Well built with some quirks
This unit works quite well and instantly updates my vehicle to feel more modern. Setup was simple, and I found it works best when I disconnect the vehicle from Wi-Fi and just use this device on its own. The only small quirk is that it stays powered on for about 20 minutes after shutting off the car since my vehicle maintains power to the outlet. I solved that by using a 12V splitter with a power button—easy fix. The speaker quality is decent for calls, and I mainly use it through my radio, but it would probably sound even better connected via Bluetooth. After a month of daily use, I really enjoy having Waze, my music, and radio apps all right on a nice large display. Definitely a solid purchase!

It works
So I didn’t really realize what apple CarPlay and Android auto actually were until a couple of months ago when we ended up needing a newer vehicle as one of our old cars finally developed transmission issues at 211,000 miles. The newer car had it which I’ve found I like very much. Fast forward a bit. Our second car is a Chevy Sonic from 2016. The original radio had failed at some point so we had an aftermarket unit installed. However it didn’t have touch screen, Apple CarPlay, android auto etc. I had been considering trying to install a different head unit that had all of those features but my wife didn’t want me tearing into the dash etc and truthfully on these newer vehicles with steering wheel control modules etc I was a bit intimidated, but still wanted the Apple CarPlay functionality. Fast forward to a week or so ago I came across a video showing a unit similar to this. Wasn’t totally sure, but found this unit for under 40 bucks. Let’s be realistic, the Sonic has a lot of miles now, but I got this device for about $35 dollars and change after a coupon code. Only time will tell as to the longevity, but I received the unit today. Fairly easy to set up. In my case I plugged it in, stuck it on the dash using the included adhesive, let it start up, and away it went. Since my stereo had an aux in, I ended up simply connecting the 1/8 jack to this screen and used a USB c to USB cable to plug into the radio directly to provide power as opposed to the cigarette lighter. So less cable, and the radio turns off when I shut off the car. I did a test call with it, the built in mic could be better but is functional. But for this price what do you expect? It seems to handle using Google maps and Amazon music almost as well as the stereo in my newer vehicle that has those functions built in. It’s not quite as responsive but certainly good enough to do the job. Bottom line is if you’re looking for a high end unit, this isn’t the setup you’re looking for. It doesn’t have the backup camera with it though it will accept one. But if you want to add Apple CarPlay functionality to an old vehicle, give this a shot. The price is definitely right if you don’t want to put a lot of money into your older car but want a Tesla style screen in it. Only time will tell how long this unit lasts me, but if I even get a year out of it, then it will have been worth what I paid for it. It handles maps and music and even seems ok with calls. So the main functions I got it for. It’s so nice especially in the evening if I’m having to drive somewhere where I may not know where I’m going to have the directions on a screen instead of feeling like I need to look at a phone.

Performs like my truck’s screen.
Functions well. Got it for my UTV and use Google Maps for satellite view. Pandora and Sirius XM are nice! Touch screen is good.

Extremely easy pairing and set up!
I am extremely impressed with how fast and easy this was to pair and set up with my Pixel 6 Pro. I expected some weird app to install or funky local wifi connection but this was as simple as pairing with Bluetooth and that's it! The touch screen is very responsive and crisp for the price point. I expected some laggy, low res screen but it's as good as any built-in OEM car screen or better. I used the aux cord so that my Ram Uconnect screen automatically connects to this every time I start the car. Bluetooth on the old Rams is terribly slow to connect and requires you to select the "MEDIA" button for Bluetooth so this Aux connection solves that pain point like a champ. CONs The auto dimming feature doesn't seem to work properly and I believe it's because the unit time zone isn't adjustable. The time isn't derived from your device since this auto dimming feature is set prior to connecting a phone. I set this to auto dim at specific times and yet it's never the correct brightness according to the schedule. I contacted the manufacturer technical support but have not heard back. I took away 1 star for this issue. Will update this review if they provide a fix. Mounting system is the main issue. I can't find anywhere to mount this to my Ram dash. I'm going to search for an air vent universal mount meant for large phones, tablets, or GPS screens. I'm disappointed this didn't come with an air vent option. I took away another star for this issue. The unit seems to randomly disconnect from my phone for no reason I can discern; however, it does reconnect very quickly and my Google Maps and media resume automatically. Unsure what's causing this and so far it's a somewhat minor inconvenience.

fantastic budget option!!
for a budget external CarPlay this works great! the set up was super easy (both intuitively and from the instructions) and pairing my device was a breeze. my only complaint so far is that the volume is about 60-70% of my car radio’s usual output (that could be potentially just an issue via aux though) and that the touch screen can be hit or miss when in use (ex: going to press the skip button on the media player via screen but it not registering the first time) but that is not the end of the world for me. I truly did get my money’s worth out of it and it had made my drive all the better for it!
