Too dark
Was really looking forward to this book as I am a big fan of Morris design. Unfortunately the photographs were too dark which prevented me from getting a good idea of the wonderful colours that William Morris used. Regret buying Monica Meren

ウイリアム・モリスの本と言えば、花柄などの生地や壁紙・装飾本・タペストリーに伝記が付いてるものが主流ですが、この本はまぁそれも扱いますけど主眼はそれらを使ったインテリアや生活であり、レッドハウスの計画時図面なども登場しますし、モリス商会で扱っていたサセックスチェアーカタログなどの紹介あります。 手入れの行き届いた広い庭からレンガ造りで天井の高いサロン・マントルピース、飾られてる絵画や使われてる調度品の情報が多く登場し、具体的でとても参考になります。 マントルピースにしても、この本で紹介されてる物件において既に火を入れる実用品とは限らず、和室の床の間のような使い方をしてる例もありましたし、モリス柄タイルでシンメトリーに両脇を飾る様な物もあります（暖房はベンチ下などにセントラルヒーティングの放熱器が見えます） アメリカ人のビクトリアン内装が悪趣味に思える人には是非目を通してもらいたい。
