Favorite Boots!
I've had these boots for over a year now, and I love them as much as I did when I first opened the box. They are sturdy, durable, comfortable, and stylish. They are true to color, and although they have gotten a little scuffed over time, this only makes them look better. They fit a little large, but this way I can wear my wool socks to keep my feet warm during these cold months. I wear them all the time and they look great with cuffed jeans, skinny jeans, and with skirts and tights for a more casual dressy look. Highly recommend! They are worth the price.

IN LOVE
I adore literally everything about these boots. They are exactly what I wanted when I typed "old school boots" into the Google search bar. When these arrived, they were perfection. I ordered the beeswax leather and am happy with my choice. They do scuff (sort of) but I think it adds character and makes them even better. They look utterly fabulous with jeans - I've worn them with both boot cut and skinny (with and without a cuff). They also look great with some tights and a skirt. The only thing that you have to watch with every day wear is that the material on the bottom of the shoe is not as 'grippy' as I thought it would be. It's spongy and comfortable, but I've noticed that it doesn't provide very much traction on ice. As for size, I wasn't sure whether to size up or down so I just went with my normal size of 9.5 and they fit very well with comfy socks. The thing I will tell you is to heed the warnings about breaking these in. When I read the reviews, I didn't think it would be that bad as I've never really had a problem breaking in new shoes before. These were horrific during the first wear despite the fact that I wore very thick socks with them. The back of my heel rubbed painfully almost immediately upon putting the boots on my feet and within an hour, the area above my ankles (where the top of the boot hits your leg) was killing me. When I got home that night the backs of both of my heels were bright red and tender and I had a deep purple indentation around my ankles from the boot tops. I have to say I was terrified to put them back on but they are so dang cute! So I waited about a week before I wore them again. The second wear was ridiculously comfortable and they have been ever since. If you can make it through the initial wear, you're golden and these boots are amazing. I want to order in more colors but I will admit that I'm hesitant to go through the breaking in process again. The pair I have, though, are my favorite shoes now.

Great looking but small
Listen to reviews that say they run small!! Unless you have an EXTREMELY narrow foot, please order half size up. I understand these will probably stretch a little, but still too snug everywhere with any thickness of sock. I am waiting to receive my 8 1/2's. I usually wear 8 comfortably, but lots of reviews said the ran small and I should've listened. My foot is not narrow, but not wide either, just average I believe. Also, I do have arch in my foot but I don't think the lack of arch support will be too much of a problem, because after some breaking in, they'll be a decently comfy shoe (little stiff at first, but that'll change), but for longer walks I'll stick with a pair of Merrells. On the other hand, they're a beautiful shoe, and I want to mention that another reason I was reluctant to order the 81/2's because I was afraid that if they were slightly big, they may give the appearance of flat clown feet…Don't worry about this, they look great, no clown appeal at all in person :)

In love with these shoes
I got these a while ago, and they have worn so well. I own a number of pairs of Clarks and am always happy with them. Once in a while they come out with a more stylish shoe than they normally do (sorry Clarks but many of your shoes are a little frumpy) and this is one of them. I love the way they look and I love this color in particular! I hope Clarks does not stop making these shoes in this color. It's a greyish taupe and a suede-like leather. Beautiful They are comfortable and true to size. The only thing I would suggest is that they actually give you an extra pair of laces with them. The ones that came are still in good condition and I wear these shoes a lot, but they feel like they could eventually break and the shoes will last forever-so well made. I called clarks to get more laces and they were out. They did send me to a website to buy more in this color. Haven't needed to do that yet but I hope the color matches. Otherwise these shoes are worth every penny. They are earthy, versatile and smart. LOVE THEM! I also own Wallabees (great), and Clarks originals Cute Bar which they do not make anymore, but should. I am holding on to them for dear life!

Buy These only if You Want Months of Pain and Expensive Surgery
I buy shoes routinely online, and have had excellent results by ordering up a size or so, no problems with too-tight shoes and boots. I had remembered desert boots fondly as the comfortable daily wear of high school. I am a 7 medium width US, and I ordered these boots in a size 8. The toe box is so incredibly small that they will injure your feet. Unfortunately I wore them outside, in a situation where I rode with someone else, and had no alternative but to wear them, before I realized how horribly uncomfortable they are. We didn't even walk very much, mostly sitting a lunch and a little window shopping. The problem is that the toe box is both way too narrow, and way too flat (not enough height for toes). I had to have surgery for 6 ingrown toenails ($1,800.00) after a first, and last, 2-hour wearing of these instruments of torture. I think the reason these shoes are poorly designed is mostly (to save the manufacturer money) by skimping on the amount of suede used, but also a result of the stupid topstitching design, which adds absolutely nothing to the design, and prevents the toe box from giving at all. Also, I could feel every tiny bit of gravel through the "famous crepe sole"; more so than even in my bedroom slippers. I like the color, but these shoes, marked as comfort shoes, are crap. Very disappointed and, obviously, irritated.

A little too big
I've read a lot of different things about the sizing of these shoes, so I really think you should try them on before you buy. I bought my true size, which is 7 (I can even do 71/2 sometimes), and they are a little big, and they also make my feet LOOK big. I have big feet for my height (I am 5'1), so I don't like shoes that make my feet look even bigger than normal shoes. I do like the look/style, and the quality is good, but I do agree with other reviewers that for Clarks, they seem to lack comfort. I wish there was more cushioning.

Great Shoes
I bought these shoes after seeing them in a picture on pintrest. My boyfriend has the same ones (but for men obviously) and in tan and loves them and pushed me to get them. They are so comfortable, cute and can be worn in so many ways. The expected delivery date was a Saturday and they arrived the day before so I was really pleased with shipping. They do make your feet appear a bit bigger so if that is something you don't like you may want to find something else, but I love them!

Too big - sizing not accurate
I have another pair of this - this pair was very wide, my feet float in them but I didn’t return them because it took me a while to try them on. A lot larger than what they are supposed to be

They are smaller than what you would expect
I ordered 38 since I usually wear this size. When they came, they felt more like 37. So I sent them back and went to the Clarks shop in my city to see which size would fit me. And indeed, even 39 was too small so in the end I ordered 39.5 which suits me well. I would advise anyone to first try them in the shop and only then order.

Beware...Chukka versus the Original
There are Clarks Original Desert Boots and Clarks Desert Boots - Chukka. The only way to tell is on the inside sole it's stamped as the Original Desert Boot. They aren't exactly the same. A giveaway is the checkered print on the inside...these are not the original boot. Otherwise, these always fit 1/2 a size too small but are AWESOME!
