Clarks Hydraulic Disc Brake Set

Bought this set as it was quicker than buying the rear set only, already had a shop fitted front brake of the same make & model, replacing an old worn out & rusty set of Hayes brakes. These are so-say a budget set of MTB brakes, but they certainly don’t look or feel cheap in anyway. My only very minor criticism would be that the rear brake pipe is a tad long, but having a loop in it doesn’t bother me in then slightest & it’d allow for longer frames. The set also comes with olives and fittings for shortening the pipe, so one really can’t complain. 2 brake discs (160mm & 180mm), 2 brackets for adjustable installation, 2 pre built brake sets (front & rear), plus all the bolts you need and some reasonably clear instructions. Including changing both brake discs, installation tool maybe 30minutes. Would buy again if needed.

At less than 2/3 of the price of what halfords sells them at, these brakes are wonderful!! They come with the appropriate disk rotors, brake pads and 180mm rotor adaptor. They feel great but be aware, do not press the brake lever without the brake pads and a disk in between! It will just push your pistons out and wont allow the disk to fit!! If that happens, online they suggest to bleed out some oil but alternatively you can just remove the pads and push the piston back in, I use a metal rod that was thin enough to go through the caliper, put the caliper against the wall and pushed the rod using both hands which pushed the piston back in and that solved the problem. The rear hose is really long, I have a 18" inch frame and it sticks out a lot but I left it like that, is not a big of a deal after all. The red colour is actually really attractive! Leave a "helpful" please :-)

I have a mountain bike with cheap disc brakes, sometimes they would need lots of pressure to with and I was endlessly tweaking them. I bought these and fitted them very easily. Rear 'cable' for the rest brake is much longer than needed but a small loop at the front of the bike sorted out with no adverse affect. They work with good feel and can lock up the brakes no problem. They also don't need any adjustment so happy days. Any downside? Well, only that the front lever has a little more travel than I would prefer but is seemingly unadjustable. You can adjust the lever forward and back though. Also with noting that these are finger levers so only fit three fingers max but in fairness one is enough. So yes, I would gladly recommend these as an upgrade.

These were purchased to replace the Hayes 9 fitted to my Kona Hoss. As this is a 2nd bike I ddi not wan to spend a great deal on replacements. Reviews recommended to fit 180mm rotors the front. They fitted easily enough, had to shorten the rear brake line but no drama. The brakes are very powerful and you can certainly lock up the rear. What they lack from more expensive systems is ability to modulate your braking. Clarkes require a fair amount of pressure on the leavers and you can modulate in a fashion but nothing like the Hayes 9 or XT systems. That said for the money I highly recommend and very good value looking smart on the bike. Clarkes do a better spec version for around a an extra £20 if you want greater modulating control.

No none sense dont mess with cheaper crap like maroca or w/e these are basically clarka trying to give you the best in a cheaper budget range and they really do work quite well.. grab a couple of sets of semi metallics, and your good to go nukeproof and shimano work. I think they come with organic.

This is a fantastic set of breaks if you’re on a budget... the stopping power is plenty for most MTB trails. I ride a hard tail bike almost every day and they’ve only jammed a little bit on me when they got a bit grubby by the pistons. I cannot recommend these enough to someone who is upgrading their entry level bike to something more reliable or for needs a quick fix while they wait for payday. Ready to go out of the box. My only recommendation is checking what break fitting is on your fork and frame, you may need a different mount for all of £5.

Fantastic looking brakes for the price. Set up was easy but it helps to visit Clarke’s website for installation. No need to bleed these after set up, took about an hour with adjustments on the disks, worked perfect and needed shortening for the rear hose but come with 2 spare olives. Levers are not too short or long overall and feel responsive.

El producto venía con la caja abierta, y se veía perfectamente que ya había sido usado (uno de las pinzas de freno tenía instalada ya el adaptador y la otra no). Lo peor es que además las manetas están instaladas en sentido inverso: la del freno delantero está a la derecha el lugar de la izquierda y lo contrario ocurre con la maneta de freno trasero....¿a lo mejor le vale a alguien de algún país donde se circule por la izquierda? (modo irónico desactivado)
