how well do these work for lat pull downs, rows, etc compared to regular lifting straps? what do you like and not like?

For lat pulldowns on a bar they're the best because wrapping wrist straps takes a while and it's annoying. For deadlifts I would go with the straps not the pads you just got a better control. The best use for these pads is if you're using an exercise machine that has cables and a grip at the end of each cable it's much easier to use the pads because again it's a pain to wrap the strap around each cable grip using only one hand cuz they have two hands and two grips. In general the pads are good for a quick grip something just grab do a couple of reps and then just put it down like a farmer walk when you grab a couple dumbbells and take a long walk they will hold up pretty well. I have small hands - would these work for me?

Would actually depend how small. I would look at the measurement. I bought mine as there was a girl at my gym with them. But I your hands are really small. Then they would not work for you.
