In The Entity , a woman (Barbara Hershey) is tormented by a demonic amorphous blob. Nobody believes her until scientists capture and freeze it. This creepy film is based on a (supposedly) true story. Carla Moran awakens one night to find herself being assaulted by an unseen presence. Terrified of what's happening to her, and shunned by friends and family who think she's lost her mind, she seeks help from parapsychologists. The researchers soon discover that evil spiritual force has been drawn to Carla and is responsible for the violent attacks. The question now, however, is how do they stop it? Based on a true story. Review: Supernatural horror masterpiece - I'm very partial to creature feature movies (cryptids, monsters and aliens) and supernatural horror flicks (The Conjuring, Altered States). This movie, however, really blew my socks off with its visceral depiction of a spiritual/psychic attack on an innocent woman and mother of small children. I watched it three times in a row and think it is a real masterpiece of supernatural horror. Barbara Hershey's acting is incredible and her stunning portrayal of the hapless victim (of an unseen evil 'entity' with all the fury of a spiritual existence) is both terrifying and gut-wrenching to behold, you really feel bad for her plight. The visual effects are not so good but the special effects are very convincing indeed. The actor (Alex Rocco) playing her boyfriend, Jerry, is way too old for the role and his character never amounts to much anyway. In fact, all of the men in this film are completely useless and can't help this poor woman from being victimized. I guess that's what makes her plight so tragic, and that materialistic science could not offer a solution to her spiritual problem, meaning she had to live with this entity's torment for the rest of her life. There's no bonus features on this dvd release nor any production notes or behind-the-scene photo gallery, which is a real shame for such a well-made and exceptional production. Review: Brilliant movie - Great addition to my collection

Makes you think is it ghosts/aliens!
This is based on a true story , a woman is bein attacked by some mysterious force (graphic suggestive sexual scenes throughout film) , seeks a psychiatrists who think its to do with troubled past etc shes imagining it . The film is nearly 1hr 50 min long .l found the film quite absorbing (u want to know wat entity is) ,until the psychics came became bit dull, it does leave you bit frustrated as you dont really find an answer (obviously its jazzed up for entertainment ) l would,nt like to be this woman if this film half true (events ate still happening todsy)

HORROR SUPERNATURALE SPAVENTOSO ANGOSCIANTE INQUIETANTE

One of the most viscerally frightening ghost stories ever committed to film. Don't let the aspect ratio on the case fool you!
I discovered this on HBO one night back in the late 80's and it scared the ever lovin' hell out of me! It easily ranks right up there with the likes of 'The Haunting', 'The Exorcist' and 'The Changeling' as a ghost story that's guaranteed to raise goosebumps. It tells the supposed real life tale of Carla Moran, played wonderfully by Barbara Hershey, an otherwise ordinary woman and single mother struggling to raise her three children who is suddenly violently attacked and sexually assaulted in her bedroom one night. But this is no ordinary case of rape, the assailant was not a human being but rather an invisible and powerful demonic force that has, for whatever reason, targeted her. The attacks continue in both frequency and ferocity until she involves a team of paranormal investigators to help rid her and her home of this unholy spirit before it escalates any further. The film also stars Ron Silver as a well meaning but disbelieving psychologist who finds himself at odds with the parapsychologists who he believes are doing nothing but enabling her and doing her more harm than good. The Blu-ray of the film looks fantastic, the film is presented in it;s original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 anamorphic even though the case mistakenly lists it as being 1.85:1, I mention this so that people won't panic thinking that the film is presented wrong and return their discs, rest assured the film is correctly presented. All in all a fantastic release for a screamingly fantastic horror film, there are no extras to speak of but that's okay, the film is given a solid presentation which is all that matters.
