Takes Me Back to Happy Times
I bought this CD to take me down memory lane. When dating my husband, he would ask me what music I would like to hear while in his car. I would always say 'the Black Tape'. It was an 8-track (yes, I am old). We didn't know who was singing on that tape because the label was peeled off. Years later I found out. My husband passed away this last Oct (2022). This CD brings back happy memories. However, I gave it only 4 stars because when I received the CD, the casing was cracked in two places. The CD, on the other hand, sounds great!

This is some of the finest easy listening rock to ever be produced. Back in the day, Pop radio was broadcasting a ton of music that was dependent on heavy bass, fuzz-box guitar, and indecipherable lyrics (Inagodadavida anyone?). The Classics IV however where different. Recording music that featured sweet lyric lines, pretty melodies, and a rhythm that was danceable in both slow and fast mode. They released most of the songs on this collection during the late 1960's and early 1970's. While they never obtained supergroup status, they developed a signature sound that was immensely popular. They got more mileage out of the Dm7 and G chords than any group I know. I bought my first copy of this album as a reel to reel tape from the PX on LZ English in Viet Nam. I bought it the second time as an LP long after I came home and had worn out the tape. Now I have the mp3. If I manage to wear it out, I'll get another one. Buy this album and enjoy it.
