I own the original version of the Smallrig V-Mount plate which I think is one of the best products Smallrig has ever designed and produced. It's the perfect solution for building compact cinema rigs using cameras like a Canon R5C or a Sony FX3/30. The 4064B update version only improves on the already excellent original version. Three notable changes/improvements- - There are fewer 1/4-20 mounting points on the battery mounting plate. I don't know what this change accomplishes, but since those mounting points probably don't get used a ton, I don't think it'll affect many people upgrading to the new version. - The twist knob that locks the folding hinge in place is now a more ergonomic thumb screw, instead of the older round knob. It makes locking and unlocking the unit after folding or unfolding it much easier. - the square Arca-Swiss quick release mounting point at the bottom is now removable, allowing users to mount their own quick release solution. Just as with the original, the unit is well-made and solid, and works perfectly. Highly recommended.

My order arrived quickly and packed well for the shipping. Everything seems to be working good, I haven't had a chance to really put it through its paces but so far so good.

Not a bad device. The levers came loose after a couple of months of use but customer service was awesome.

it is a legit piece of kit that brings versatility to your stability. smaller than it looks. fine quality. heavy duty but still light. easy to use. price it fair. everything fits fine and is adjustable. goes well with a smallrig cage. would recommend.

I love this thing, paired with the fx3 cage it’s freaking awesome I can build/breakdown my rig so much faster than before. Also the little chest pad is super useful for handheld shooting but easy to remove when it’s not needed. I leave my tripod plate attached so i can just snap it all together real fast and start shooting. I haven’t had issues with the joint like others have. I recommend it to my friends.

The little chest pad is kinda uncomfortable and the rails are a bit too long for my taste, I like to have the camera as close to me as possible. The V-mount thing is great though definitely get that.

Flip the rods and it’s perfect. Don’t screw the rods on flip them around so the 1/4 inch screw faces towards the pad and run the rods through your baseplate and install extensions or longer rods to reach the front of your rig, attach the baseplate to the v mount rail system for your quick release and boom. This removes about 1-1/2 an inch of vertical clearance between the baseplate and the bottom of the camera & lens. So I do not recommended The bump-stock/pad advertised. The length of the rods are too long for it too be comfortable when holding it at the waist & chest. Get a shoulder pad if you plan on having that much length. (See photos) The pad can be set halfway into its mount to get extra clearance so the rig can sit level with everything attached. BUT there are 2 screws holding the pad mount which is taped over by the Velcro. I had to cut this out in order to tighten them but that took about 45 seconds to do so not a big deal. The knobs and threads may have some defects but mine was great out of the box.

I did not have the higest hopes for this piece of kit but thought I'd try it anyway. I found its perfect for small hybrid cameras (the pics are with a Lumix S5iiX) and really useful for both interview and run & gun shooting. Incredible value for the price. I'd almost call it essential for any doco shooter.

Was looking for something to help hold the camera in a more stable manner while using telephoto lenses on the FX30 and this was a great addition! Purchased mainly for the chest adapter, but will eventually get a vmount battery for it as well. My only complaint with the chest mount is that it's locked in place. In order to adjust the angle, it appears you need to use the Allen key to tighten/loosen which is included and magnetized to the bottom on the rig. But doesn't seem like it's something you can do on the fly. I'll need to play around with it. Oddly enough it doesn't magnetized properly, so the Allen key flips out - it's almost like the tip of the key is fighting the magnet. Won't stay completely in place. Otherwise it's a great setup and seems good quality. The chest pad seems a bit "cheap" and may need replacing. It's just a bare chunk of foam. Everything else appears to lock tightly and is easy to remove if needed. Would of been nice if it had rod adapters on the front as well to avoid needing to buy yet another plate. Would buy again!

Feels great against the chest and keeps everything in control. My complaint is that the locking mechanisms that prevent it from sliding back and forth, dont stay snug and theres no way to tighten it further. So you have to keep an eye on it, so that the battery mount is not pressing up against the back of the camera. Build quality is good otherwise.
