Used to connect my "old" ECU to my "new" laptop- no noise and perfect solution.

The pinouts in the product photo are not correct. The actual pinouts are 1 is DCD; 2 is TXD; 3 is RXD; 4 is DTR; 5 is GND; 6 is DSR; 7 is RTS; 8 is CTS; 9 is RI. A regular serial cable plugged into this will only get you TxD, RxD, and GND. I wish they could swap DTS/DTR and RTS/CTS so that in my terminal program all the data channels would work with a standard serial cable. I like the small form factor. I'm using this attached to raspberry pi so I can access the pi from a laptop. I added a db9 (de9) to rj45 adapter to convert this to standard yost (cisco rollover) serial cable. Plus I put the pins in the correct spot. It works well and for the price it is good. A 3 to 6 in. usb extension would be nice as this adapter is a bit thick. I can still fit another usb near it, but I find it easier with a usb extension.

Didn't work for me.

It works flawlessly with an industrial equipment we use at work. Using windows 11 or 10. Just have to download the drivers from FTDI as instructed in the manual. A USB 2.0 or newer usb extension cable is advised.

Did what I wanted it to

Provides com port for new PC.

Bought another brand and it worked the first time.

I like this adapter now.
