Q: I'm not feeling it. What do you pack in each one & how do the straps work?

Each bag has a grasping strap so it's easier to pull the individual bag out of the "box" I use this storage system to organize my the different items I keep in my truck like ratchet straps, measuring tapes, infrared

Q: Will this fit in a yakima skybox standing upright?

Not sure which Yakima you have but the Kelty measures 12 inches high, 12 inches wide and 19 inches long.
