FitFlop Women's Hooper Sandal

My size if I get measured in a shoe store is women's 9 EEEE. I have feet that are wide, with high insteps. As a child all I was ever fitted in was saddle oxfords. So, the fit of shoes has been a problem I have dealt with my entire life. Now I am in my sixties, and my feet have spread, due to years of barefooting. My Achilles tendon has been inflamed for years due to psoriatic arthritis. And some years ago I developed plantar fasciitis, then Joplin's neuroma. In 2009 my podiatrist recommended I try FitFlops. I did, and soon realized I really needed to wear them all the time to help keep my feet from hurting. I am thrilled. I have been wearing them since. I get two pair a year. Not because they wear out...I have not had that happen yet.I am still wearing all of them. I have a wardrobe of different colors and textures. These are the dressiest pair. I wear my FitFlops with jean skirts, with shorts, slacks, everything. I recently had a funeral to attend. I realized then I didn't have any black FitFlops. So, I purchased these; too late for the funeral, but I have them now! This pair gave me the best fit ever! I have had a bit of difficulty because of my high instep getting my foot in all the way on some; so for some I have a size 10. These I ordered in a 9, in the black leather, and they fit perfectly...with adjustment of the strap giving myself another quarter inch, on the left foot, and almost a full half inch extra on the right foot; my toes are more forward, and the width is perfect. If you go to FitFlop site the new style of adjustable FitFlop is called Via, but it is on the new narrower footbed. I am so bummed that the Hooper is not made anymore. I hope I will be able to purchase another pair of Hooper in the Tan before too long.I like that the width is enough so my toes do not fall off the sides. For the funeral I wore an inexpensive copy called TheraSole, that I had worn a couple of summers ago...and I can tell you after wearing them for one summer my feet had started hurting again. So, that drove me to get more because the first ones I had were the webbed ones in hot pink. When I put the TheraSoles on to wear after all this time I could feel that the ball of my feet had no support. All the FitFlops still give support to the arch, the ball of the foot, and the heel is well cushioned. All the pain I had from Plantar Fasciitis and Joplins Neuroma has disappeared with me wearing FitFlops practically all the time. And, I wonder if it is from the shoes...I cannot attribute it to anything else, and that's I actually lost inches in the hip measurement. BONUS!! I absolutely recommend FitFlops! Don't be surprised when you start realizing you don't want to wear anything else! Just remember to check for classic footbed if you have wide feet.

I purchased my first pair of fitflops in the summer of 2009 from a department store after they were recommended to me by a friend. I remembered her telling me to be careful about sizing. Back then there was a manufacturer's tag that gave very specific instructions on how they were supposed to fit and feel when you walked in them, so I tried them on and gave them a very good test run in the store. Usually I wear a 7.5 in regular shoes, but often size down to a 7 in sandals. But I found that the 6 fit the way the tag suggested, so I went with those.Two years later (July 2011) I saw the Hooper sandal and ordered it through Amazon, again in a 6 in the buff color. Last February I ordered the Toffee Tan. Last month I ordered the black. With a second home in Florida I can assure you that my Fitflops get worn all year round. They are incredibly comfortable with the right support in the right places.I am making this review specifically on the black Hoopers... which is why I've only given 4 out of 5 stars. The one thing I've noticed about this newer purchase is the footbed seems to be harder and not as flexible as my older ones. I am wondering if this is simply because they are not as broken in as my older ones, or if it is possible that the material is somehow different because of the color. (Both the buff & toffee tan have ivory colored footbeds & tan soles.) Time will tell, I guess. My favorite pair is the buff because of the suede upper because they are much softer that the leather. I wish they made other colors with suede.

Let me start by saying I never liked flipflops - no support, uncomfortable and the thong always hurt. But then I stumbled on Fitflops, bought a pair and that's where it all started.This is my 6th pair of Fitflops - well 7, counting the pair my Bichon got ahold of, little twerp!). I love them all, and for me, the size always runs true. Short of Bichons snacking on them, these shoes wear like iron. I have hip and knee joint pain, as well as back problems. When I don't wear my Fitflops, I hurt - so I pretty much wear them 24/7 except when I have to go out in the winter (and for that, I just ordered a pair of the Fitflop Gogh Clogs). These are stylish with the buckle, but the added benefit is the adjustable Velcro strap under the buckle - it allows you to adjust the whole top part going across your foot.I tried the Sketcher ToneUps because they were less expensive. While the footbed felt similar, the positioning of the straps was really uncomfortable and cut into my foot, leaving rubs and bruises. As always, you DO get what you pay for.I vote these the best Fitflops yet - stylish, well made, dressed up a bit with the buckle and adjustable - and with the trademark Fitflop comfort. I'm also a big fan of the Walkstar3 - I just really like the style and adjustable strap on these.Thank you, Amazon, for carrying my favorite shoe....and at the best price with free shipping!

This is my second pair of Hooper sandals and I already have several other fitflop styles but with its very narrow toe post this is by far the most comfortable as well as being stylish.Very prompt and efficient service from the supplier too.
