Helped with asian glow
When I went out with some friends to party in Japan, they introduced me to these drinking aids. We would take them before going out and it would substantially help me with my asian glow. Normally I'd be beet red but with these supplements I'd be normal drinking colors, (I've also used pepcid ac in the past to similar effects). They also took it after drinking to help with recovery and I found it helped substantially there as well. I was a convert and looked for these when I got back in the states. These supplements by DrinkAid are very similar and worked just well for me, I wonder if these work better for asian people due to our lack of specific enzymes? Either way, I'm glad I have found these.

Individual packets makes them easy to carry but you pay for the convenience
I like my cocktails. But as I get older, I seem to metabolize alcohol more slowly and even a couple drinks can result in a restless night and feeling hungover the next day. In particular, I have problems with waking up over and over feeling overheated, which it sounded like these pills might address. After a couple Manhattans one night, I was not anticipating much of a hangover but wanted to test these, so I took one (I don’t weigh much so I often take a single pill when the recommended dose is 2). I am not sure it helped much with overheating at night. I MAY have slept a little better and woke up feeling a little better but it's really hard to tell. I have a trip coming up soon with several friends where we have hired a driver to take us on a day tour to various distilleries so I will bring these packets and pass them out. There are 5 of us and I have 5 packets left so that will pretty much use them all up. Will I order again? Well, at $3 a packet current price, unless I see a miracle next month, no. I will stick with good hydration and try to mostly practice moderation and live with the consequences when I don't. Hangovers are nature’s way of telling you to behave.

Seemed to help a bit
So I went out drinking just to test these out. I got hammered...SUPER hammered!! But before I went out I took one of these before going out and I am Asian so you know we get that asian glow with just 1 alcoholic beverage. This seemed to help a bit with that. After many shots and drinks my night was over and came home and took another. (It says you can do this for heavier drinking sessions - which this most definitely was) I was home with quite the head pound and went to sleep after and woke up not feeling perfect, but a whole lot better than i thought I would. Still a bit nauseous and dizzy... probably still a bit drunk, but the hangover I was anticipating never really appeared. I felt like it was in my mid 20s again and ready to do it again. So does it work? From this 1 test I would say so. But you already know I'm going out drinking again on Friday so we will test this again.

So far so good!
Have only tried these once so far, but I do feel it was a successful test run. Instructions say you can take 2 capsules before drinking and 2 after to help with effects of hangover. I did just that, and while usually I am super susceptible to hangovers, I felt fine the next morning… pretty much completely normal. I will say though that the drinking I did the previous day occurred earlier in the day, so I’m sure the passing of time also assisted with the fact that I felt good the next day, but since it’s the only time I’ve tried it, I won’t discount the effects of the pills!

Think it works
I have never heard of dihydromyricetin so I looked it up online. Briefly, dihydromyricetin allows the body to metabolize ethanol faster, ultimately reducing the side effects of alcohol intoxication. Studies have also suggested that it may be protective to your liver.I like to drink occasionally but as I have grown older it definitely takes a larger toll on my body. I tried this supplement before a wedding recently and I think that it actually helped. I didn't have as nasty a headache or feel as groggy as I have in the past. Don't get me wrong... I did not feel 100% and I still felt dehydrated but it did seem to have a positive impact overall. Will continue trying this in the future.

Does it really work tho?
Time itself is the only guaranteed way to breakdown acetaldehyde and ethanol, the toxic by-products of alcohol. There are a very limited number of available scientific studies that examine the pathology of alcohol hangover. This product claims: "The active ingredient dihydromyricetin (DHM) - derived from Japanese Raisin Tree - protects your liver by accelerating the breakdown of acetaldehyde, the toxic by-product of alcohol."Here is a PubMed study that actually supports these claims about DHM:https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32267550/The conclusion is that DHM can potentially help with metabolizing alcohol by-products, although this study was conducted on rodents and not humans. There aren't many studies that fully support these "hangover" products. There are hangover patches, pills, powders etc. now on the market but most of them are basically snake oil. The science is shaky at best. If you want real, scientifically supported, preventative medicine for hangovers... eat a burrito or some French fries.I gave these a try but didn't notice anything. If you get wasted, these DHM pills aren't going to make a significant impact on your hangover status. I won't say they have absolutely no impact, because I'm not a scientist. What I will say, is that as a somebody who routinely crushes handles of Titos, save your money and get a Baconator instead.
