This is the second time I've bought this cheese cutter. The first one came apart and became useless. The wire piece fits into two slots and is held by a screw on the other side. After time, the screw got lose and fell out somewhere and got lost. It is a tiny screw. For a while I managed to put the wire into the slots and just hold the cutter so that the pressure is in the direction of the slots. It cut cheese like this for a while. Eventually I got tired of doing that, and I bought another one, a different one. That one had plastic where the wire connected, and that eventually broke. So, I bought the old one again. However, this time I know about the screw holding the wire. It requires a micro Philips screw driver. This time I will check it from time to time to make sure it is screwed in tight. Other than that, I really like this cutter. I bought two of them this time. For $11.39, it is well worth it. These also come each with 3 extra cutting wires. I've already use it on my block of muenster cheese, and it works perfectly. It has screw tighteners for each side to adjust the thickness. I've heard complaints about this, but I don't mind it. I've had those that adjust thickness with just one adjustment knob, and it is a little easier. However, I've had those break on me also. This cutter adjusts both sides real tight for any thickness you might want. I got it to cut some razor thin pieces. It helps to let the cheese soften a little, but it will cut through solid cheese right out of the fridge. Great cheese cutter.

After I cut myself using the slicers that work with a blade I went back to a wire cutter. This one works beautifully and the wire system is replaceable, too!

This hand held cheese slicer works great!! However there was a flaw when slicing a block of cheese it doesn’t cut all the way so you may need to use a knife to cut the rest. Quality is great made with real metal and uses real metal wires to cut.

It slices cheese!! It works great I really like the metal vs plastic they hold up much better ! The replacement wire is a little difficult but if you’re careful it can be done ! Overall it’s a nice way to slice your cheese !

I wanted a cheese slicer for tofu and this one works great! It's easy to adjust the size of the slice. It comes with replacement wire, too. I have tried it for cheese.

I have this slicer and generally like it. It has weight and is adjustable in thickness. I would give this a much higher rating but for one thing - you cannot buy replacement wires from the company. That means you have to throw the item away after the wires break. It is a disposable item, which is a shame. I did manage to find some replacement wires that say they will fit, but for a company not to supply replacement parts means the product is worthless in many ways. Companies who don't support their products or their customers should be avoided. UPDATE: Sopito customer service contacted me about the replacement wires. They were kind enough to listen and may add additional wires to their product line. That would be smart in my opinion. The slicer itself is really nice. But without replacement wires, it is disposable and that is not a good thing. Time will tell if they add the replacement wires to their product line. I sure hope so.

The weight is incredible. I love that it came with extra wires. Once I set the thickness I wanted, I used a screwdriver to tighten the screws and it does not move. It feels like it will last a long time.

This cutter is very sturdy and is very good for soft to medium soft cheese. It comes with extra wires in case they break. If I had to, I would buy it again.
