I bought these tools to remove ingrown toe nail pain on both of my big toes. After listening to my personal physician explain how she treats ingrown toe nails, I thought that spending ten bucks was better than paying for an office visit, putting up with the after pain, and any resulting prescriptions. I like the plastic case that contains all seven tools, stuff just lasts longer when it has a home. My favorite tool is the long narrow file, polished smooth on one side with a file on the ther side. Just using this one tool has made a difference on both my big toes. It is also helpful to soak both feet in very warm (as hot as you can safely tolerate) water containing 1-cup Epsom salt, 1-cup Apple cider vinegar, and a few drops of tea tree oil for 30 to 60 minutes. You can always add more hot water to keep the water temperature elevated. This softens the skin around the cuticles and also kills foot bacteria. Soaking the feet also makes it easier to access the sensative areas around the ingrown toe nails while the skin is soft. Rinse off the feet with fresh water after you are done. If you cut the toe nails, cut them off square. Think of an inverted or upside-down square shovel (transfer shovel or square pointed shovel). Your finished big toe toenails should resemble the upside-down shovel's configuration especially on each side.
