Probably one of the best tools I have purchased in a long time. I recently did a large landscape job in my backyard where I took out 6 trees. I had to reseed a large portion, which meant having to make sure the seed got worked into the ground. Once I put the seed down on the soil this tool was very easy to use and worked the seed into the soil with little effort. I was impressed on how heavy it was, yet it easily rolled the seed into the soil. The photos are a Before, and After.

Long ago I had a similar device with round-ended rods in place of the star-toothed wheels. This new one is lighter, so while easier to push about, it does not work as well on heavier soil. I would recommend this "hoe" for light sandy soils, or soil which has been continuously worked with plenty of humus, but i is not so good on clay or heavy wet soils. The weed cutter attachment looks like it needs a light touch with a sharpening stone before use. I have not used it because I already have 2 good oscillating weeder hoes. The manufacturer's packaging was good with extra layers of cardboard against the toothed wheels. But Amazon just tossed it into a larger carton with no restraints. This magnified the movements in transit and the teeth not quite penetrated both cartons. A simple wrap of cardboard would have been better. Amazon's claim of an enivoronmentally friendly carton was spoiled by their use of GFR tape.

The quality of product is great, however it needs very, very soft soils to work on. Insofar as working my flower beds to remove weeds, it fails completely. We have tried other methods that work better, and we still use it whenever we can. However, it requires muscle and quite a bit of effort on your part.

Maybe if the ground was newly roto tilled and fluffed up you cold use this to maintain the rows. But for dry ground that has a crust it is worthless. I won’t even put it in a garage sale to pawn it off on someone else.

This tool works exactly as expected and does it very well. The cutting blade is the treat to weed out any on its way. Very good build with thick metal for the task. Sectional design for the handle is excellent to size to fit your work situation. They are connected by twisting them tight and they stay tight through out. I used it for the first time today for more than 2 hours roughing up many bare spots on my lawn for seeding and the tool stayed like untouched at the end of the day. It looks like it will last for years to come. I start looking into other tools from Walensee. This is my first tool from them and I like what I have.
