Nice set but don't fit good in block
The blades feel nice and are heavy for an inexpensive set, shiny, sharp, functional. The handles are solid but feel like the plastic they are made of. The block is nice but the knives don't sit right in the groves, look at the pics. I can fix it by gluing some wood bits in spots that make them level out but costs them a star imho, I'm glad I didn't pay full price. They feel real nice to use and they are way better than my old Emojoy set I got used for 30 bucks!

Great knives. Work well. They have replaced my entire cheap knife set. I am amazed how well these cute meats, veggies, and bread. Would recommend.

NOT FOR FINESSE CUTTING, BUT A MID-RANGE KNIFE THAT MAKES A GREAT WHACKING KNIFE
I’ve learned a lot about knives over the years. This Shanzu knife may have some Japanese steel in its core, but it is not a Japanese knife. But that does not mean that this isn’t a good knife. It’s just that calling it a "Japanese Chef Knife,” might be considered misleading.Japanese 7-Layer, High-Carbon Steel — 9Cr18MoV Steel — is a commonly used, decent-quality stainless steel in budget to mid-range knives. It's known for being initially sharp and holding its edge reasonably well, but not as well as some high-end steels. It’s also not the most durable steel. It can chip or break if misused. At $69.99, this knife falls into the budget to mid-range category. High-end knives, using premium steels can cost several times more. The G10 Fiberglass Handle is a common and durable handle material found on many knives, good for moisture resistance. But please note that the Amazon site also says that the handle is made of “wood.” Another inconsistent and misleading point against the Shanzu. Also, this knife is clearly not full tang.My final point to make regarding the merchandizing of this knife is that it’s selling itself as a “Chef’s” knife. But the description also mentions Santoku and Gyuto. A true Santoku might have a straighter spine and deeper point, while a Gyuto typically has a more curved spine and pointed tip. This knife might be a decent option for home cooks looking for a sharp, budget-friendly knife, but don’t expect the same level of performance — edge retention and durability — as a high-end knife made from premium steel.However. And this is a big however for me. This is a great WHACKING knife. It’s heavy as all get-out. It’s as sharp as you want it to be for whacking. A super-sharp, thin bladed knife is for finesse cutting and slicing. This is not that knife. But I currently have no other whacking knife in my collection, so I’m happy to welcome this knife into my home.
