Uses PS/2 connection for sustain pedal
It appears that the only sustain pedal that will work with this keyboard is the one that comes with it. Please note in the pictures for this product that the port where the sustain pedal connects has 6 pins. Also note that in the manual it advises you to have the keyboard powered-off when connecting/disconnecting the sustain pedal. That's how it used to be with PS/2 mice on computers. The six foot cord on the sustain pedal is a little limiting if you plan to "stand" while playing. I've ordered a Male-Female PS/2 extension "cord" to give me an additional six feet of slack for the sustain pedal. By PS/2 I do not mean "Oh that game console from Sony". For "fun" I connected an old PS/2 mouse to the "sustain pedal port" and was able to activate/deactivate sustain using the "wheel" on the mouse. This indicates that there's some "proprietary stuff" going on with the sustain pedal. You probably will not be able to use a different pedal with this keyboard. I've owned this product for 3 days at the moment. I like that the keys are solid so that your fingers can't accidentally get "under" the keys. There is a healthy amount of resistance with each key which is probably what they meant by "semi-weighted". After all - the goal is to prevent accidentally hitting "extra notes" during performance. A weighted keyboard gives you more confidence because the instrument supports your fingers. I'm very happy that this product is ready to go from the second you turn on the power. There is no "startup delay" when you turn it on. I am able to read sheet music very well but in order to "learn" some of the more advanced "styles" it helps to use the cascading piano roll available via software or YouTube. I've placed this keyboard in front of a 60-inch TV so that the virtual keys on-screen match perfectly with the ones on this instrument. The price-point and the positive reviews helped me make a purchase decision. But what made me choose this one in particular is that it offers "transposition". I work with several musicians who either need or want the music played in a different key. Transposition lets me play the music as written and adjusts the tone so that it matches the other musicians. I was surprised that USPS delivered the keyboard without "help" from another carrier. The packaging was very sturdy and this keyboard is well constructed and yet lightweight. I haven't tried the other "voices" because I'm mainly looking for a piano sound while I practice. But I am quite satisfied with the "piano" sound and can say that it sounds good and is not embarrassing as others have hinted in their reviews.

A Good Place to Start!
I took piano for 8 years (in college and after) but I've since passed my piano on to my granddaughters. I wanted to get music back in my fingers so I researched keyboards. I wanted one that had 88 keys and was weighted, and in expensive... if I do well, I'll eventually purchase a higher end keyboard! I already had a stand and stool, so I just needed the keyboard. I specifically looked for a basic keyboard with the Piano sound but it has several other sounds as well. The piano sound is spot on with my music app! The keys are semi-weighted which I like. The pedal is nice but it's not large so it's a bit strange getting used to it. With a keyboard you can't really change the timbre of the individual notes by touch, but at least it's perfectly in tune. For starting out, this keyboard is overall a great value!

Decent quality for price
For the price, this is a pretty decent keyboard for beginners. My son has enjoyed it for about a year and it helped introduce him to the world of playing piano. He is pretty rough on it so the two highest keys no longer work and the headphones don’t make correct contact in the headphone jack any longer, but that is mainly due to His roughness, not the quality of the product. Don’t expect beautiful sound comparable with higher end keyboards. But this is a solid first keyboard to see if one is interested in playing before investing too much money into a luxury piano. I would have loved it as a child or teenager!

So disappointed
So disappointed I have been playing an acoustical piano for over 50 years. I have had to move to a small home that my piano would not fit. I was looking for a keyboard that would fit in my home and feel and sound like a true piano. This one does not. The sound is very tinny. The key rebound is hollow. The keys are not full size.the sustain petal barely carries the sound. I am not a professional player. I just play for my pleasure. This keyboard disappoints. It would be fine for a first time learner, I guess, but if you are going to teach your children how to play the piano, get a better keyboard. You know that old adage, “You get what you pay for.” Is so true. I thought that after reading the reviews I would find some pleasure using this one. I DO NOT. This one sounds lie a keyboard not a piano. Like I said before, if you just what to make sounds or a toy for children, this one would fit the bill. But as for a true piano s
