Ergo Proxy Collection - Blu-ray Beneath its idyllic surface, the futuristic, utopian domed city of Romdo is not all that it seems. Even in seemingly impenetrable perfection, the human spirit cannot be contained and evil cannot be restrained. Faced with demons both metaphysical and corporeal Re-l Mayer, a female detective who works for the Civilian Intelligence Office, must uncover the truths behind Romdo's secrets in Ergo Proxy. Review: Ergo Proxy - Classic Anime series on Blu-ray... But packaging needs an upgrade - I'm happy that I could get this new Blu-ray release of my favourite Anime, but I'm really disappointed that they didn't really do much about the packaging, with it being the 10th Anniversary Edition and especially for what it's selling at. These days, buying Blu-ray or DVD's for the same price they sold for over a decade ago is actually laughable, knowing that there are so many ways to acquire a series or a movie, so many streaming services, like Netflix and desertcart Prime, and knowing how many competitors there are... I suppose that there wasn't enough of in the budget for the release, but I hope the support will with the sales of this title. There was NObooklet and only contained the 3 1080p Blu-ray discs in the traditional blue Blu-ray case. One would expect this release to at least have a booklet with more info and at least some celebratory words about the 10th Anniversary release. I would've liked the packaging to be similar to the original DVD release, where the inlay had an almost holographic shimmer to it on each cover. A slipcover box... Something... Sigh... I guess it is what it is... We all celebrate something important in our lives, and this was one of those highlights. I hope all you fans out there will find this review helpful. It's still Blu-ray and still worth getting if you're a fan. Thank you desertcart for the Amazing service :-) Review: Suspenseful, Beautiful and wonderfully Unique - I`m going to keep this short as many people have previously reviewed this. Ergo Proxy is pure brillance. Different to watch I`d usually watch but it captured my attention. Ergo Proxy is a sci fi/thriller and the story unravels slowly but you it leaves you wanting to find out what happens. I watched the entire series in one weekend, personally I enjoyed it I found it unique compared to most animes around at the moment. Don`t bypass Ergo Proxy just because it`s not massively violent. It`s also not full of fan-service which is rather pleasant.

Good, But You Really Need To Watch It Twice
This is a spoiler-free review. You need to watch this Anime twice to get the most out of it. Let me explain... I didn't like this on first viewing. I found it to be convoluted and pretentious. The opening 6 episodes were good, but the mid section is 14 episodes long, and it was a real slog to get through certain parts of it, with only 3 episodes for an ending (which was decent). Also, it has some seriously goofy episodes in it, two in particular, that do not fit with the description of Seinen that many attach to it. Much of the plot is simply incomprehensible on first viewing, which can be incredibly frustrating, and the many references will go over most people's heads. I gave it 2 stars. However, after watching several video essays on it and then giving it a second watch through, the show really came to life for me. I started to enjoy the journey and experience, and understood much more, catching many things that I had previously missed. Definitely a 4-star experience overall, although far too esoteric for my liking.

Outstanding
A dystopic cyberpunk tale with above average intellectual content and an excellent closing credits theme courtesy of a local band from my current place of abode in Abingdon, England (the opening theme is great too). Very highly recommended!

slow burn anime but worth the time
This is an intellectual anime, if you are looking for gun battles and explosions, you need to look elsewhere. If however, you are looking for anime that requires active thought to engage with the characters and the story, this is well worth a watch. The story arc is slow to develop but every episode brings the viewer something new to contemplate.

Not bad
It starts off well. The main character investigates a mysterious powerful creature. You get the sense you are in for a cool noir style detective sci-fi. However, the plot loses focus quite quickly, although it picks up again about half way through. Not enough action in it for me; if I'm not seeing robots and cyborgs killing each other I lose interest. I reckon it will probably be better after the second viewing.

Great and a Recommended Watch
Not going to go in-depth with a big review. Seen this anime two or three times and I'll probably watch it again so wanted to own a copy. It is highly recommended but avoid other people's opinions on it, go in open minded and enjoy :) The copy works fine, the packaging was good, no damage and delivered when expected.
