The Best Blades in 50 Years of Shaving
I've been shaving for about 50 years. I've gone from safety razor to dual / triple bladed things you can buy in the grocery store. My son pushed me to go back to the "old time" way of shaving. He bought me a whole shaving set up (Amazon) including Merkur Double Edge Blades. These things leave my face feeling like I'm a little kid. Smooth, no nicks or cuts & easy to use. I couldn't ask for more.

A decent value razor blade
Good double edged razors. I find I can get a longer shave out of these than other brands - I expected these razors to be higher quality in my mind, so hopefully that isn't confirmation bias. But it certainly seems like a slightly higher quality blade with more durability.I've never had a nick from one of these blades that wasn't kind of my own fault (going to fast and jabbing, etc.).One thing I will point out: Merkur is a well known German brand and they love to plaster SOLIGEN all over their website. These razors blades are made in the Czech Republic. I'm not a big fan of dishonesty in branding/marketing. Just pointing that out in case you case.

A smooth shave!
These are nice, sharp blades that help provide a smooth shave.

Over priced blades, basically junk that can't be used.
Paid $20 for 30 Merkur blades made in the Czech Republic and the quality is so bad I can't use them. By comparison I paid $8.40 for 100 Astra blades made in Russia. Great consistent quality blades for clean nick free shaves and they last. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

Very Good .. But Not Great
Okay, so I always used to purchase these Merkur blades -- Well, the ones in the plastic sheathing that were actually manufactured in Germany -- These are not quite the same (packaged in a cardboard sheathing and made in the Czech Republic).Yes, I was a little perturbed to discover that these were not the 'real deal' (or perhaps they are the 'real deal,' but Merkur has changed their manufacturing location for these). That said, after I let my annoyance fade I gave them a try. Now it's possible I was a bit mentally skewed when I tried them out because I knew that they were not my normal, tried and true German-manufactured blades -- So, at least as far as I perceived, these CZ blades didn't perform quite the same / as well as the German ones -- Regardless, I've tried many, many, many double-edge razor blades in my day and I find these are still the 2nd best ones to date (2nd only to the German made Merkur blades). Now, since I've been continuing to search for the actual, German made Merkur blades to no avail, these have become my new standard (unless I am someday able to find the German made ones). So in short, these are not made in Germany, but in the CZ -- But if you can't find the German ones like me, I do recommend these -- I've still found them to be better than any other non-Merkur double edge razor blades.

Great Value!
I still am using these razors. They have worked very well and am able to live closer to a plastic-free lifestyle, for much cheaper than Gillette or other disposable razors. I have been told I’m like my parents’ grandparents, and in this case, even if they think it’s weird today, I think it’s a good sign to see. It is different, it does disrupt the status quo, and is recalling a time when things were done correctly. It’s listening to facts and history and learning from it. So, overall, it is good.
