Varathane 211724H Premium Wood Stain, Quart, Red Mahogany

This is a gorgeous red for staining.

My vintage walnut veneer stereo speakers hadn't been oil treated in a while and were dry. Frankly the wood finished in my house is Cherry slightly redder than Walnut which I prefer anyway so I got this stain to both treat and modify the original color of these 50-year-old speakers and it worked like a dream!! I put two very heavy coats on them approximately a year apart from each other, wiping off the excess after it was allowed to soak in and after 2 months this was the result!! Beautiful. Classy, not cheap and cheesy like some.

We chose American Walnut to refinish our interior stair treads. We originally picked the Dark Walnut gel stain, but the stair treads were too dark and the grain of the wood was not clearly visible with the Dark Walnut. American Walnut stain looks great on our stairs! The can was well packaged, went on easily, and left a rich tone to the stair treads. I used one coat of stain and finished the treads with three coats of polyurethane high traffic. Definitely recommend for stair treads.

Wish I had known what I know now via youtube. Guys are using old motor oil mixed with diesel to stain the wood on their utility trailers and it looks better and is significantly cheaper than buying these tiny little cans of stain. One can barely did my 5x8 trailer. I can't imagine how much of this you'd have to buy for any significant project. Also color wasn't as red as I'd have liked, but that's probably because my wood was already fairly dark to begin with. Would likely look great on a lighter wood.

No stores in a 60 mile radius have this particular color stain on their shelves. Whew, worth the wait to get the right stuff.

Best day I've ever used! I would highly recommend although a little expensive like everything else.

Looked great for about 3 months. Then highbtraffic areas began to goop up. Disappointed. Might be great for ornamental piece, but for dinner table... doesnt last.

This is a good wood stain for at home projects, but be aware the color is much darker than the photo on the product and unfortunately lighter shades are not available

The product is excellent, but the can in which it came was so battered and dented as if it had rolled down a hill slope! Somebody treated it very badly during transportation. This did not change the quality of the product inside, so I am quite happy with the purchase.

The picture on the tin shows a light brown color, but the stain is raspberry-red. It gave pine a mahogany look. Quality is good, very low odor. Hands wash with handsoap easily.
