Fabulous quality very interesting book and at £10 on Amazon, half the price to elsewhere, bought as Xmas gift for someone who loves facts, and was very well received.

It covers exhaustively too many subjects with timeline. Very useful book for every science and topic either for students or professionals.

Great book

I love the 1001 series ..this is my 2nd time through this volume and it’s heavy slogging ...you gotta love philosophy a lot and be a pseudo-academic to grasp some concepts. And frankly many of these didn’t actually change the world.

I received my book in an unacceptable condition. Teard cover and wrinkled pages! But the book is great. A good start to search for more idea and topics.

Beginning with the ancient world and ending in the contemporary period, this book deserves to be read from cover to cover, but at 960 pages, that might not be practical. To facilitate exploring, there is a detailed index of ideas by category. I chose to spend a pleasant hour just flipping through the pages, feasting on the luscious illustrations, thought-provoking quotations, and wealth of information contained in this book. For starters, I learned about the origins of biological warfare, the man who first posed the question about the chicken and the egg, and the earliest coffeehouses. If you have ever wondered about a subject, you can probably find out more about it within the pages of this book. It would make a great Christmas gift for any of those hard-to-please people on your list, but be sure to get a copy for yourself, too. Five enthusiastic stars! Very highly recommended!

This book is fantastic source of knowledge for people like me who wants to know something about different topics. It takes few minutes to read one topic, so it is not boring. If I want to know more about a subject I go on internet and digg more information. Good starting point for expanding horizons.
