Was thinking i might need this, and after reading all the different types of scanners, this evened to a fairly safe bet. All worked right out the box, but agree with others a bit of practice, will help you understand all the beeps and led’s. I have played around testing for several different things, where i know they are, and it found all of them quite accurately. A couple of odd results, near light switches, but it transpires there is metal caping over the cables, and thus partially shielding the AC signal and only showed when placed above the switch, but makes sense s there is capping over the cables.I will at least feel more comfortable before drill plasterboard walls now.

I have been meaning to get one of these for years, but historically I found them to be expensive for anything with good ratings.Now I picked up this on a lightning deal (again me and the lightning deals....) based on the excellent reviews.I am relieved to report the positive feedback is well deserved!It takes a little time to understand how to use all the functions but it is worth spending a few minutes doing it.In practice it is utterly brilliant, finding cables and pipes in very thick solid stone walls along with finding the wooden studs in partition walls (as well as electrical and pipework).Put simply, if you do DIY, get this. You may not use it often, but when you do, you will be so relieved to have it!Thanks for reading and I hope you found this useful. :)

Got this on a daily deal and thought I would give it a try. After using it multiple times it seems a bit temperamental on what it detects. I used it to find a stud in a wall and to make sure there was no live wire near for the first time and there was no issues. Found it almost instantly and was confirmed with a screw. The next time however i used it, I used the live wire function and although it seemed fine at first, it then started to detect everything I placed it against, from walls to doors, as having a live wire behind it, even after a turn on/off test. Not sure what the issue was but am still unsure of the accuracy of this tool.

Has wood and metal modes.Needs to be used with flat side opposite the display on the wall as that's where the sensor is. Therefore doesn't give you a lot of room to manoeuvre in some cases. Depth indicator is handy.

I trawled through the reviews on a lot of the products and nearly didn’t buy this one because there weren’t many reviews but was swayed because of one which said that they’d compared it with their Bosch and it was as accurate.Anyway, I was mounting a tv on a wall which had two sockets, a tv aerial socket and a telephone socket. I wanted the bracket above the sockets (of course I did). This was really easy to use and picked up all of the cables, which weren’t where you would have expected them to be. It was completely accurate, so easy to use. You just switch it on and press the button for metal. Brilliant for the money and absolutely recommended.

This is not a reliable tool but its just a toy!Keeps beeping even if behind the wall there is nothing. Its difficult to know if there are electrical wires, metal or wood. When you scan the same area it gives you different result each time. Just unreliable!!!
