Triumphing in the Adventure Cam Showdown
In the world of adventure videography, the competition is fierce, especially among top contenders like the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro. However, after extensive testing and comparison, the DJI Osmo Action 4 has emerged as my favorite, surpassing its rivals in key areas that matter most to me: video quality, thermal management, and overall value. When it comes to video quality, the Osmo Action 4 shines brightest. Its footage is crystal clear and rich in color and detail, outperforming the GoPro Hero 12 Black. Whether I'm capturing a sunrise over a mountain peak or the intricate patterns of a rushing river, the Osmo Action 4 delivers superior visual clarity that brings my adventures to life in a way that the GoPro can't match. Thermal performance is another area where the Osmo Action 4 excels. Unlike the GoPro Hero 12 Black, which has struggled with overheating during extended use in my experience, the Osmo Action 4 remains cool under pressure. This reliable thermal management ensures that I can keep recording without interruption, a critical factor when capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. While the Insta360 Ace Pro is a formidable contender with its innovative features and impressive capabilities, its higher price point makes it less appealing than the DJI Osmo Action 4. For adventurers who, like me, demand top-notch performance without breaking the bank, the Osmo Action 4 presents a more balanced package of quality, durability, and affordability. The dual-screen design of the Osmo Action 4 is a feature that particularly stands out, offering convenience and flexibility that neither the GoPro nor the Insta360 Ace Pro can match. Being able to frame shots from any angle without additional equipment easily is a boon for solo adventurers. In conclusion, while the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro have their strengths, the DJI Osmo Action 4 ultimately provides the best video quality, thermal performance, and value for money. It's a robust, reliable action camera that has become indispensable to my adventure gear, empowering me to capture and share my experiences with unparalleled clarity and ease. TL;DR: After comparing the DJI Osmo Action 4 with the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro, the Osmo Action 4 is the superior choice for adventure videography. It offers unmatched video quality and thermal performance without the high price tag of the Ace Pro, making it the go-to camera for capturing high-quality, uninterrupted footage of all my explorations.

Huge upgrade from Akaso EK7000
I walk my dogs several miles every day. We go all over town and often, there are dogs off-leash and/or sketchy folks and I wear an action cam just in case. I got the Essential Combo which includes an mount adapter that is of no use unless you have a mount to attach it to. Luckily, I had been using an Akaso EK7000 and received a huge number of attachments with the basic camera. I had to do some MacGyver-esque tinkering to attach the DJI to my pack and the weight was a bit of a hinderance but it is a reasonable compromise for the impressive quality difference. The DJI is very heavy compared to the Akaso but that's because it is worlds better. Once set, everything works on this camera. The date and time stay set, the loop recording works flawlessly, stabilization is excellent, and the picture quality is fantastic. My only criticism so far is that the user interface isn't as intuitive as it could. Yes, you have to use their app and I'm sure the CCP is monitoring my every walk but that's going to be true with all of these cameras.

GoPro -> DJI
I make Fishing videos and was using a GoPro Hero 7 Black. I had overheating issues, battery issues and freezing issues. I had been researching new GoPros and was disappointed when I heard they still had overheating problems. I've seen DJI Action cameras before so I decided to research. I watched many videos. My conclusion: the DJI doesn't overheat, the batteries last WAY longer AND the magnetic mount is AMAZING. Taking the Action 4 off my neck mount to put on my tripod is a breeze with the magnet and clamps. Such an amazing innovation. I've recorded a total of 6 hours of 4K 60 Ultra Wide and have had 0 issues. The camera has yet to even get hot even after recording for 2 hours straight. I'm impressed. The build quality is good, I like the protective case it comes with and the fact that you can access the USB-C port with the case on. The size of the camera is comparable to GoPro. They're small-ish action cameras. After tax I spent $225 and couldn't be happier. The quality of camera you get for the money you spend is incredible. I'm definitely team DJI now. GoPro lost me when they decided to not fix their issues.. picture and video quality are fantastic on this camera, value for money is amazing. Great camera. Definitely a happy fishing content creator here 👋🏻

The Action 4, A Real Review
I'll get right to it! I love the DJI Osmo Action 4 camera. Yes, there are newer versions of the Action camera, but this suits me just fine. I use the Action 4 camera for Vlogging on travel, outside and now as a webcam. When I bought the Action 4, I didn't realize that it is a webcam. That is such an added bonus as I record podcast and talking head videos. Like everyone else, I had to have the DJI Pocket 3 cam, but now that I have both, the Action 4 is my go to. While the Pocket 3 has superior image quality, the gimbal is often annoying to work with. With the Action 4 it is really just an aim and shoot thing. I will say that the "Low Light" video imaging is not great on the Action 4 and you will have to fix that in the editing process. Unlike the Pocket 3 which has a low light option and it captures amazing images in that setting. I think both cameras are great to have, but the Action 4 is considerably less expensive, more user friendly and has quality features and capabilities. If you are just starting out on your photography, podcasting, vlogging journey, I would highly recommend going with the Action 4 camera. There aren't enough differences with the ACTION 5 or 6 to make the upgrade worth it in my opinion. I have included some images using the Action 4 camera. The images are sharp, clear and vibrant. The short video was shot in low light and you can see the difference. Hope this helps. To all my #TravelBuddies out there, keep filming and keep going!

EIS: RockSteady (no +). MicroSD SanDisk Extreme PRO U3 V30. Firmware actualizado: 01.06.04.10.

I love that camera. Im not a pro or anything like that, i chose this camera for a variety or reasons, including the easy pairing with dji mics. Everything seem great about this gamera. Quality is super. Stabilisation is exceptional. Its easy to find affordable accessories. The magnetic snap with the case is an awesome idea and clever to switch mounting easily. I, for.example, use the camera for bike rides and explorations so i love to be able to snap it on the bike mount and quickly switch to a handheld mount without having to unscrew the thing. I would 100% recommend. The video i shared was taken with the action 4 and edited in less than 5 minutes with the dji mimo app.

Great action cam! Amazed by the quality of the recordings, the possible settings and the supporting iOS software to sync, edit and manage and publish photos, videos and streams. Glad I did not go for cheap “GoPro rip-offs”, but for this DJI Osmo Action 4 with competing top quality at a good price point. Plenty of mounting and lighting accessories to do any type of interior and outdoor recording. Great alternative to use in harsher context next to a more vulnerable and expensive iPhone 16Pro. Used it extensively in sub-tropical, wet and underwater conditions (28M depth, together with underwater housing). Eyeballing the 6, now that it came out, but the differences in specs and pricing are not convincing me (yet) to sell this one and purchase that one.
