We see improvement with the mites..however,,,
Apivar Pros: Convenient strips and easy to follow directions Put a date on the strip, tack it on, and come back to remove when it’s time and you will see dead mites Apivar Cons: Highly toxic and taints honey, wax, etc… You can read about this stuff for days on Reddit posts to scientists blogs. The problem is this. No one has a straight forward answer to how toxic. Their own website states different things. I have read beekeepers state they handle it with no gloves for multiple boxes and others state it is cancerous.. Why risk it? I would love to know if after a few month of product sitting..like honey.. is it always there or does it breakdown into more harmful compounds? We made the mistake of tainting our honey. It is great for a new colony, as pictured above, this 1 is a nuc. They need their honey reserves for the first winter. Next year we will find another alternative for our hives. It was good for what was needed at the time.

Currently two weeks in and these are working!
I had to wait to install these into my hives until the honey supers were off but put them on about two weeks ago. They were super easy to just slip between the brood box frames. The directions recommended wearing protective gloves so I just wore latex gloves over my bee keeping leather gloves and threw them away in the bag with the packaging. It took a bit of work getting latex over the leather but worked out really well. One package with 4 strips treated one of my two brood box hives. I ordered a second package for my second hive. I did not notice any odors from these and my bees don't seem to care that they are in there at all. I checked the slide out tray under one of my hives yesterday and it was covered in dead mites! My mite loads did not indicated that high when I tested but there were loads of them in the tray. They stay in about 6 weeks so I hoping to get a good window that I can get them out in a month depending on temps. That is the only concern that I have using these at the end of the year is that you don't want to leave them in over the winter. So far though, these are working at decreasing my mite loads and I have nothing negative to say thus far.

Older product
They were delivered today and have less than 3 months left before expiring. Might date Oct 12 2023. I put 3 stars because yes they are supposed to be still good but is an old product that has been around on a shelf.
