Astro Pneumatic Tool ADR14 XL Blind Rivet Adapter Kit - 1/4" Capacity

I had to use a 3/16" X 1/2" blind aluminum rivet and I tried to use a heavy duty rivet tool. I couldn't get the rivet to hardly even flare let alone complete the job. I was looking at purchasing a battery operated riveting tool, when I found this during my search. It was at least 1/2 the price of the battery operated tools and after seeing the video, I decided to try it. I already have a few battery operated drivers that could handle this.When I received this, I read the instructions and care pamphlet. It was easy to get started, but the tool's jaws wouldn't open up to accept the rivet mandrel. I worked with it for a little bit and they opened. When I used it, the rivet was 'grabbed' by the tool and was easy to insert into the hole and it wasn't difficult to hold the tool and power my driver. In just seconds the rivet set and the mandrel was cut off. When I reversed the driver to reverse the tool, the mandrel was pushed out out of the tool. I used this again and it worked great. It set the rivets that the manual hand tool couldn't. It's a time saver and didn't kill my hands like a manual riveting tool doesIt appears to be a very well manufactured tool that operates smoothly. The nose pieces were easy to change with the included wrench. (FYI - I used small groove pliers with a protective rag to hold the body while I removed the nose piece.) The case is nice, but removing the nose pieces and placing them back into their slot can be a job! I would highly recommend this tool and would definitely buy it again. This is an excellent tool. It feels very high quality. I’ve seen the cheaper ones but this is in a different league. I’m sure the cheap ones are fine for home/DIY use but if you intend to use your rivet-drill adapter on a job site I highly recommend shelling out for this version. It makes very quick work of jobs that would normally have my arms throbbing the next day. As others not, the only slight annoyance is that the damn case is fitted so the same tip must be put back in the tool in order for them all to fit. This is annoying if it’s not the size you use most often.

The kitchen at my local church has a large rolling cart that is used to transport heavy items each week to move groceries obtained on shopping trips. Over the years, the welds in the cart had fatigued and cracked badly and the rolling cart was very weak when loaded up with a heavy load. I used some flat aluminum strip pieces and the ADR14 XL pop riveting tool to strengthen and brace the cart nicely and return it to full capacity. It was a true hand saver for me as I popped about 60 rivets in bracing up the cart. It sets 1/8" aluminum and stainless steel pop rivets easily, and I didn't have one problem with it. My Black and Decker 18 volt Firestorm drill powered the ADR14 XL very well, and I am going to use it on another project soon, setting 5/32" large flange stainless steel rivets. I will be using 1/4" and 1/2" grip length on this next project, and I am looking forward to the ADR14 XL saving my hands on this project too. It has worked very well for me so far, and I will use it as my "go to" tool for setting pop rivets from now on. It looks to be a quality tool made out of metal with no plastic in it at all. I am glad I bought it, and it should serve me well for many years to come.
