And its even worse because The grater was not sharp enough and you had to apply a lot of pressure to grate the garlic. Shipping also took a long time...almost 10 days. I have returned the item but after nearly 2 weeks the seller has yet to process my refund. Review: I was somewhat skeptical about this product even though it is a Microplane product. I have most of their products in my kitchen and all work better than advertised or described. This product was not a disappointment. It took a few minutes to figure out how it worked. I had read some of the 1 star reviews of this product and realized that the reviewers had not figured out how to use the product as I had, but once I had it working it does exactly as described and minces and slices garlic without any problems at all. I have a lot of garlic press/mincers in my kitchen gadgets drawers and cabinets but this one is going to replace a bunch of them. The secret to this device's use is getting the slide mechanism over the blade before putting it into the clear catch unit. Then when you finish you can pull the blade out of catch unit for cleaning. Sliding the slide unit to one end of the blade and tilt it away while pushing down on the opposite end of the blade (along the plastic edge to disengage it from the blade -- simple. It might be a single purpose product, but for what it's designed for it does it both efficiently and well. Another win for Microplane.
