The Solution to All My Bottleneck Problems and Exceeds All My Expectations
I've got a 2017 iMac 27-in 5k Retina that I use for editing and VFX with DaVinci Resolve and Fusion studio versions. The issue I had is that with only two Thunderbolt 3 ports and one of them being needed to connect a secondary monitor, I only had one port available to connect a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB from which I run my OS and applications. I also have a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB but it was relegated to a USB3.2 port, giving me only 10GB/s speeds. Running different trials and I found that setting my source and cache files to the 980 Pro was fastest, so I just used the 970 Evo Plus as a backup and output save drive for redundancy until I began looking for a solution that would allow me to run a monitor and get full speeds on both drives. I was prepared to buy a Thunderbolt 3 hub and another 40Gb/s enclosure for this purpose when I found this thing. As you can see in the photo, I am now getting ten times the speeds as my internal Fusion drive from both Samsungs, and that is with the secondary monitor connected to the Orico. I believed this would reduce the speed of the 980 Pro since it has to share the Thunderbolt 3 port with the monitor but there is no slowdown whatsoever. Moreover, because of the cooling system, the 980 Pro has yet to exceed 140°, whereas the 970 Evo gets over 160° regularly—not a problem of course but the cooler the better. The fan does run constantly but sitting next to the iMac right in front of me and I can barely hear it. If I were to attach it under the desk (as I plan to do) I doubt I would notice it at all.I have no intention of using this for mobile work but it is rather large and the power adapter would double the bulk so I wouldn't find that very convenient, and the relatively low power delivery would probably not be sufficient for some laptops, but having your hub and external SSD in one device would simplify things quite well, so that is something to consider if you are thinking of buying this for that purpose. For a desktop unit however, I fully endorse this product.

Decent Thunderbolt 3 dock with 2 missing features
This is a reasonably priced Thunderbolt 3 dock that works with USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 laptops. I tested it with HP Dragonfly Pro One and it hugely enhanced the laptop in networking and storage. I am especially impressed with the 1Gbps ethernet port speed when I can sustain 980Mbps throughput. However, a power button is missing on the dock, and it is much needed since the fan runs continuously, even when the dock is not connected. In addition, the two m.2 drives do not have separate anchoring pins and rely on the screws that secure the cover plate. This means you can only use 2280 m.2 drives as there is no way to anchor anything shorter without using an extender; it is also easy to dislodge the m.2 drives, especially when thermal pads are used, while opening or closing the cover plate. I hope these will be addressed when they come up with Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 docks.

This product does not meet the specifications with ThinkPad X1 Titanium
This is an updated reviewI have installed a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB in this unit and connected to a Thinkpad X1 Titanium Yoga, I get these Test results with Samsung Magician:Sequential Read 2843 MB/sSequential write 587 MB/sRandom Read 48095 IOPSRandom write 83496 IOPSI checked the ORICO website to see if they have updated firmware, they do not. I tried contacting ORICO through their website; however, trying to submit a "problem" failed, I had to fill out a presales request. I gave my problem but have not heard back. I was going to give this another week, but honestly this device just turns me off. If it met performance specifications, I would say this is a 3-Star product. I bought it expecting it to be a 4-Star product, as I knew the expansion options were limited.I am very turned off by the look and feel of the product. Spending this much money, I expect premium quality. I do not get that feeling with this enclosure. It looks and feels like cast Aluminum. The performance issue, being the biggest concern, probably isn't a problem with all products. But how can it not support a ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga? Lenovo, and ThinkPads are very popular devices. The icing on the cake is the lack of a clear-cut support structure to properly submit issues.Since I'm a YouTuber and want to do more videos on Amazon, I try to put something together in the form of a video and come back and add it.

Versatile but noisy
Full disclaimer: I returned this item. Great connectivity options, built in storage would be awesome for backups. Only problem is the fan NEVER STOPS RUNNING WHILE THE DOCK IS POWERED AND HAS DEVICES CONNECTED. And there’s no power button. The constant drone of the dock was super annoying, and having to unplug the power from the back was inconvenient. Very little on the website as far as support, seems like this model is already being bypassed? Returned and got a QUIET Anker dock instead.

Unique, slick and compact
I looked at a lot of different types of docks before making my decision to go with the Orico Thunderbolt 3 one, and I have been extremely impressed with its capabilities. Absolutely love the use of M.2 slots for max capacity with little use of space. Power adapter is a bit bulky and it does make a bit of a noise, but it seriously does the job, is fast and durable, and works very well with Macbook Pro M2.
