Scotts DLX Edge Guard Broad Cast Spreader... 5 STARS IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO... 20 POUND FILL LIMIT...Over that...you're abusing it. CAPS POPPING OFF... yes, it can happen. WHY?...The axle slides sideways back and forth about 1". Keep it level. Only the right wheel spins the spreader, the left is free wheeling. Banging the spreader on one wheel or the other, can pop off the caps. I'm going to try epoxying them on to prevent that. UNEVEN SPREADING... happened twice. One was a clump. Dug it out, and broke it up. The second time...ooops,forgot to turn the EDGER OFF! SW Fl, thick floratam lawn, for $100 or so... Ran great out of the box. Expected some hard pushing, none. First use on a 15,000 sq. ft. lawn, ran 1 10lb. bag, and then another, rhen a 20 lb bag, and then another 20 lb. bag. Rolled smoothly, spread nicely. (70 yr old, in pretty good shape).

We ordered the Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader which was delivered today. My husband says it's a nice spreader. The delivery was fine-respectful of our property etc. However, when my husband went to unpack the spreader he noticed that a) the box was already opened, and b) there was no instruction booklet/packet in the box with the spreader. Obviously, he has used a spreader before but usually these items come with packets that have an instruction booklet and warranty info etc., this one did not. Disappointed with packaging but will not return for paperwork since he likes the item and is pleased with the durability and quality of the product.

Light weight , user friendly to operate.

If I could give this ZERO stars, I would. Right out of the box nothing worked. The edge guard catches the wheel so they don’t turn. I have to hold the lever down the entire time to keep the edge guard up and even then, it constant falls down and stops the wheel from turning. According to the SCOTT’S fertilizer I was trying to spread, the setting was supposed to be 3 1/4. But at that setting nothing was coming out. I had to put it up to 11 to get anything to come out!! Their own spreader doesn’t work with their own fertilizer settings. It’s ridiculous. Then, even when fertilizer did come out, it spread (sort of) only to one side. And no, this was not with the edge guard down. I was holding the lever to keep it up because it jams the wheels, remember? It did not spread the distance it said it would, either, so I was doing runs back and forth closer than it said to. The spread isn’t even, it’s more in clumps. Oh, and if you have ANY bumps in your yard, the edge guard falls down and the setting changes. With every single bump. Oh my god I was losing my mind. It took me over 3 hours of fighting with this stupid spreader to get the fertilizer spread over a lawn that usually takes a maximum of 45 mins. And then, to add insult to injury, a few weeks later: my lawn is completely streaked. I had my old Scott’s spreader for over 20 years. I only replaced it because it was a rusty mess. But that rusty mess still worked better. I’m sorry I threw my old one away. This piece of trash is headed to the dump asap. Don’t waste your money on this!!

As expected, Scott's stuff is well tested and designed. have had several over the decades, this one has some improvements over prior years. Seems expensive, but value appears to be there.

Exactly what I ordered. Used the smaller unit before purchasing this one.

poorly designed product. leaves burn strips all over lawn. Have purchased Scott product before with poor results. there will not be a next time.
