I purchased this spring loaded self levelling tamper as my tamp consistency was off and I knew I wasn’t level. I’m relatively new to home espresso and needed something more consistent to help. It comes with two springs of different weights, so you can adjust your tamp pressure as necessary. I stuck with the pre-loaded weight. The tamp itself is weighty, it’s significantly larger than the one provided by Sage with my machine. It feels like a good quality piece of kit. It also comes with a silicone tamp rest which keeps the top of my machine clean and not scratched. When using it gives a satisfying click to indicate that you’ve reached the desired pressure and when you remove the tamper it leaves a lovely concentric circle pattern. It fits a Sage Bambino Plus 54mm portafilter very well, leaving basically no gaps with the sidewall. It’s a great piece of kit, cheaper than some other brands and definitely feels like it’s worth the money. It’s significantly increased the consistency of my espresso shots and also means I can pack more grounds into my basket! Great product, I would purchase from this brand again.

This is a lovely Tamper, very well made and fits my Portafilter perfectly. It is an ideal weight and comfortable to use. The click sound feedback is really helpful to ensure that you don't over tamp your coffee and makes every tamp exactly the same. If you want to ensure that the obvious potential varient of tamping your puck removes that possible varient and provides the same pressure every time, this is the way to go.

upgraded my coffee setup from Sage 54mm portafilter to Rocket with 58mm portafilter. Saw this calibrated tamper reviewd by Coffee Kev and manged to get it at a good price. Quality bit of kit. Fits the portafilter well and tamps lovely. The only gripe is the click sound is not really audible, but that's not really a massive issue for me.

Fine tamper. Works well, spring options work, and the click is crisp. I am however put off by the appearance. As soon as I noticed how much this resembles an adult toy, I couldn't unsee it and had to get something with a less suspicious looking handle. I have also gone over to flat faced tampers. The ridges and other patterns do nothing for the extraction and only serve to create complications and unnecessary mess as these grooves occasionally hold onto coffee. The tamper is reassuringly heavy and is of good quality.

I’m with a few people on here that it seems a lot of money just for a tamper. But when you try it for the first time you understand. It’s total quality. If you’re thinking about getting one then you’re maybe at the stage I was at - got everything kind of dialled in with the mainly cheap stuff that came with the machine, and gradually upgrading one bit at a time. Basket sorted, portafilter sorted, small footprint digital scales sorted, WDT tool sorted. And now this and it’s a work apart from the cheap piece of rubbish that came with the machine. I actually don’t care if it doesn’t make the coffee taste any better, just that it’s such a beautiful thing to use and it means my tamping will be absolutely consistent so one more variable crossed off.

The MHW-3BOMBER 54mm Espresso Coffee Tamper has been a fantastic addition to my coffee setup. It works exceptionally well, providing a clear click when the required pressure is met, which ensures consistent tamping every time. This feature has significantly improved the consistency of my espresso pours. Additionally, it comes with an extra spring, which is a nice bonus. Great bit of kit. Takes the guesswork out of tamping and looks really good as well. You can tell it’s a quality bit of kit by the heft alone. Using with a Gaggia Classic.

Wish I’d bought this years ago . Perfect tamper , correct pressure and a satisfying click . If you’re thinking of buying the force tamper check this out first . Nice and heavy , great quality and a third of the price of the force tamper .
