An industry standard
This APC UPS is a solid choice for keeping your critical equipment running smoothly. It provides reliable power protection during outages and handles minor voltage fluctuations seamlessly. The software is easy to use and gives you good control and monitoring options. While it's not the cheapest option, the peace of mind it provides is worth the investment, especially if you rely on your electronics for work or entertainment.

APC quickly fixed snafu - unit cam with incorrect mounting hardware
TLDR: It's properly installed and happily running my gear. This is an edited review because I received the unit with two right side mounting brackets. I called APC, sent them some pictures, and they promptly sent me some new mounting hardware. The customer service was fast, professional, and effective. Sure, I wish I hadn't needed customer service, but they made it as painless as possible. As for the unit itself, I can't say that it has been put to the test except for a few minutes while I moved the rack from one room to another. No problems and it did what it was supposed to do. I'm pretty happy with it. The unit is currently not hooked to the network. I'll do that eventually, but only after setting up a subnet that isolates the unit from the rest of the network. No need to risk any weirdness that may try creeping in via the UPS. I hear it requires an open port, which is no bueno. Luckily, my firewall and managed switches can handle that easily. I'm not sure if I'd connect it to my network if I couldn't isolate it and safely route that open port.

Excellent product, dangerously clueless support
Using the APC SMC1000C for my IT equipment including a Buffalo Terastation 1200D running a raid. Contrary to the false information given to me by a completely clueless APC support twonk this ups CAN be connected via usb to the nas, and the nas WILL be able to be programmed to SHUT DOWN gracefully via its browser interface. Just plug the ups into the mains, connect it to the nas via usb, plug the nas into the ups and boot the nas. Go to the nas administration page in your browser and set it up to synchronize with the ups. I tested it by setting it to shut down one minute after loss of mains power and then I pulled the plug on the ups. Workd flawlessly. No need for the included PowerChute “Business Edition” software which to all intents and purposes is targeted at servers. Three stars for battery life because it’s brand new and I have no other information yet. One star for product support because I was outright told the lie that this ups will not send shutdown information to the nas via usb.

Quiet and it gets the job done.
This is an upgrade from my old APC UPS. That one is several years old. But I have a new computer that requires a good sine wave signal so I got this one. Easy setup. The battery showed up with almost a full charge on it. It was pretty much just plug it into the outlet and plug in my computer, monitor and my router. Very easy display to read. As long as it keeps running I will leave five stars for it. It is heavy. Around 40 lbs. Maybe they should design in some finger holds into the case. I will use my old unit for my NAS. I had changed the battery on that one some time last year. Update June 17, 2018: Nothing bad to say about this. I lost power one day due to the utility work being done down the street. They shut the power for a couple of hours. No problems with keeping the computer on until I shut it down several minutes later. It has been a silent running UPS. Sept 16, 2024- Sept 16, 2024. Still running fine. The original battery is still going strong. It looks like I will have about 40 minutes of power if my power is cut off.

Peace of mind
The smart features of these work well, and the basic function seems just as well as APC has always been. However, the one complaint I have is that this model does not support static IPs, so it was somewhat inconvenient for me to use this on our network.

UPS replacement
The UPS has worked well. However, this is a replacement of the same model purchased back in 06/2017 that became faulty. Hopefully this one will last much longer.

Bait and Switch!!!
Firstly, this unit is HUGE! Secondly, contrary to what it says on their "About this item" description, they want you to pay for a subscription ($55/year) to access the only really valuable feature -- to be able to cycle an outlet. BUT, you only find this out AFTER you've unpacked and installed the unit, have registered and gained access. Really, really crappy. This is not an inexpensive UPS and even though they offer the ability to email them for support, they do not provide an email address. I spent 30 minutes on hold as the first person in the queue, finally gave in and asked for a call back -- but no call back. Escalating to Amazon support.

High quality product
Great product. Bought two, one for router, cable, NAS, etc and the other for security DVRs & cameras. Both working flawlessly for over 6 months now. Very heavy units. Built well. I had to adjust the sensitivities on each because default settings trigger at even the slightest voltage fluctuation. I like the ability to monitor remotely and receive alerts on my phone. I just don’t understand why the App requires me to re-enter my user ID every time I use it (no face-ID, or remember this login support....APC needs to fix this)

Buy once, cry once. Buy quality or buy junk and buy again. I was in IT for 30 plus years, and relied and still rely on the quality of APC UPS's. This one is to protect my home network, while not mission critical, it does protect my virtual machines and other infrastructure. Only downside is they use SLA instead of Lithium Ion or newer technology. First time the battery alert comes on it will be replaced with current tech. They get 4/5 for that lack of fore site.
