Hilka 01123202 32pce 1/2-inch Drive Socket Set

The case is nicely build and you get some additional accessories like half a dozen 12 point sockets of the smaller sizes, the sockets are good quality with a nice design iwith hollowed out corners to prevent rounding off fasteners and bolt heads. The ratchet itself is very nice and after having to beat on it with a 1kg deadblow to undo some very stubborn 18mm caliper bracket bolts that someone had sent with an impact wrench, the ratchet isn't any worse off for wear so it's very strong and robust which is a big positive point. It's a 1/2" drive so it's not very compact when compared to a 3/8" drive set or 1/2" nano sockets however for the torque you'll need to apply with these you will appreciate them being hefty sockets. I don't see the need or point of the included 3 point bar, if you're going to use it as a T-wrench it's too small to get a good application of force on it, the larger spark plug socket came in handy when having to service my hyundai hym430spe lawn mower. Overall its a great quality socket set that is very well built, it's easy to use and strong.

Just for starters, I order a set of these sockets on a Wednesday at 9:00 AM and to my absolute amazement they arrived at 7:20 pm that very day. I was even more pleased when I opened the parcel. Not only does the set go all the way from 8mm to 24mm, but the sockets and the other parts are well made and appear to be very sturdy. You can always trust Hilka products, even the carrying case is well designed and substantial. My only bitch is that Hilka don't make an imperial version, so I ordered a bare imperial socket set from Draper (also of a similar high quality). BTW, the sockets in both sets have 6 faces rather than 12. This provides a much better grip with less chance of damaging a tight nut or bolt. Very highly recommended, and a real bargain at £42 Update, The sockets fit the ratchet tightly and do not fall out, like some socket/ratchets. In fact they fitted so well that they were extremely difficult to separate and required the use of a rubber or wooden hammer. Then today, quite by chance, I discovered that there is an unlocking button on the back of the ratchet head which, once pressed, easily released the coupling. It was my fault for not reading the instructions, but then who does. This feature is the final icing on the cake. I have now used this socket set for some serious engineering and it has proved to be excellent, almost a pleasure to use!

Very nice set with a large selection of bits. Even the box is nice and very sturdy. This will last a lifetime for me . Very happy. Would recommend

A solid and well made set that contains a good selection of sockets , adaptors etc. The case although plastic is robust with metal fasteners which looks likely to last well. Good value for money and well suited to a serious home mechanic.

My last hilka socket set lasted 40 years, this one seems just as good. I had to use it on day of delivery and found it very comfortable to use. To anyone not use to a socket set and think the sockets don’t fit the handle head just push on the circle above the switch /lever, it allows a simple release and acceptance of the sockets. It as a quality ratchet feel and smooth in operation. The sockets had a firm grip on the bolts I unscrewed without a hint of slip or worry the sockets were going to break. The soft grip handle was comfortable only time will tell if it lasts. Can only recommend a tool and company that as served me so well in the past.

I just started in a VERY professional workshop, and was working for a well-known roadside repair company. They provided all the tools, but I had to get some that were were at least as good, if not up to the standard of my new colleagues. The quality is as good if not better, thanI expected. I’m using the 1/2” set everyday at work. For wheel changes, filter changes , suspension struts and bolts and nuts and so many bits’n’stuff that I’d use a massively more expensive set of kit for. If I’ve written this down wrong or it sounds daft,, sorry, but this is as good as any kit I’ve used in, about 30 or 40 years in this trade. Got bits’n bobs in the set, you WILL use in this trade, I’m done now, can’t put any more about this, my buy was well worth the stupid price, but, straight up, the quality is ace.
