Complete Short Stories of Mark Twain (Bantam Classics)

A joy to read.

I highly recommend this book. The stories are engaging and imaginative; you can pick long ones or short ones. The book is small enough to carry with me when I have appointments and am waiting to be seen. So inexpensive for hours of delight. Try it. You can always donate it to your local library if you're not enjoying it.

Of course it’s great!

Haven't really gotten into this book so can't give it a full 5 star rating....but, who doesn't like Mark Twain and all his wit and humor so with that being said I just had to give it a 4 star rating on merit alone......it is the type of paperback that one would just pick up and read a chapter here and a chapter there....easy, enjoyable reading...not a novel, of course, as the book tells that....nice collection of this author's brilliant and penetrating insight into human nature...I look forward to spending more time with this great novelist....

This was bought as a gift for a friend. I really liked the price for a hardbound edition.

I enjoyed most of these stories. Some of them were seeming sort of vague. Being Mark Twain there is considerable irony included into many of the stories. Recommended reading!

A superb collection of the short stories of America’s most talented humorist.

Mark Twain is a deity. While not REALLY "complete", this would be worth the price for An Extract from Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven and The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg alone. "Captain Stormfield" is a hilarious depiction of what might actually happen in heaven that deflates all of the pomposity of man and Christianity of the time. The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg is another hilarious send up of the self righteous as one man sets out to revenge himself for a slight received there. Also notable for The Diary of Adam and Eve and his early The Notorious Jumping Frog. Also How I Edited and Agricultural Paper. I reread these stories over and over. This is a gift, as how could I to share such humor with friends?

I gave this as a gift to an avid reader who is trying to familiarize herself with the classics of literature. It was well received.

This was a gift for a friend who is loving the short stories.

This is a huge book. I started to read it about six weeks ago and have still not come to the end. Mark Twain was very well traveled considering the times he lived in and his short stories are endlessly inventive, very witty, wicked at times and always entertaining. A very good read most of the time - only occasionally did I skip rapidly through one of his stories. I now look forward to reading his novels.

I have it! So i m glad, cause one another book of Twain shines in my collection. This book was really not to expensive for that content you will got for your money. Every time i would buy it once more.Yes i can say to all other readers, who like the stories of this genious man called Samuel Clemens:Buy it and you will never be dissapointed! it worth his price in whole cents !...
