River Monsters Series 2 sees the return of host, biologist and extreme angler Jeremy Wade catching more extraordinary and supersized fish and investigating further freshwater mysteries and debunking weirder underwater myths. Jeremy will travel the globe and risk life and limb on his journey to uncover the truth about the dark secrets of our planet's rivers. This 7-part series features mysterious predators with the potential to kill include the Giant Snakehead, Goliath Tigerfish, Stingray, Congo Catfish, Nile Perch, Sturgeon and the Zambezi Shark. Episode 1 - Demon Fish Jeremy Wade journeys to the infamous Congo River in Central Africa in search of the Goliath Tiger Fish--quite possibly the world's most ferocious river fish. This supernatural monster predator pushes Jeremy to his physical and mental limit. It requires all of his skills and the help of a local witch doctor to catch one. Episode 2 - Death Ray Jeremy Wade heads to The Mekong River in Thailand in search of one of the world's largest and most terrifying river fish--the Giant Freshwater Stingray. Armed with a venomous ten-inch barb on the end of its whip like tail, this mysterious 700-pound River Monster is in a class of its own--and does not give up its secrets to Wade without a fight. Episode 3 - Killer Snakehead Angler Jeremy Wade sets his sights on an aggressive Far Eastern predator that's now invading America's backyards. Accused of homicide, and said to breathe air and crawl on land, the Snakehead is a monster that sounds more like a gangster than a fish. Does its bite match the hype? Episode 4 - Congo Killer Jeremy Wade travels to one of the few rivers left on earth that will still test a fisherman. The Congo, a river steeped in legends, and soaked in violence. One spirit in particular is said to lure fishermen from their boats to their death. Jeremy discovers that the truth is every bit as frightening as the myth. Episode 5 - Alaskan Horror Deep in the Alaskan wilderness, people on two bottomless lakes have been vanishing without trace for thousands of years. Extreme angler, Jeremy Wade, searches for the lethal lake monster of native legend that's dragging them into the icy depths. Episode 6 - Rift Valley Killer Jeremy Wade is on a quest to Africa's Rift Valley, the cradle of mankind, to explore the roots of fishing and the monsters these first fishermen faced. It's a dangerous place, but at its heart is a worthy prize, Africa's largest fresh water fish - the Nile Perch. Episode 7 - Hidden Predator Bull sharks are the most aggressive and unpredictable of all the sharks and thought to be responsible for more attacks on people than any other. Last year the biggest bull shark ever recorded was caught in a river in South Africa. Jeremy Wade travels to this river to see if last year's catch was a one off or if there are more monsters out there, and discover if the presence of this known man-eater is a human tragedy just waiting to happen. Review: agood price - easy a good dvd Review: Brilliant - I love this programme. I stumbled across this when I couldn’t sleep one night. It was on ITV 4. I saw a couple more and just had to get the dvd At the moment it is my favourite. My friends think it’s an odd thing for a girl to like fishing but this is much more. Jeremy Wade is a biologist and extreme angler, he investigates mysterious deaths on the worlds rivers. Most of them are in South America and Africa but he does go to the states, Australia and even Russia. He gets local knowledge of the type of fish in the area and asks for more tails of deaths on the river concerning fish. He sets out to catch the fish and see how big they are. I had no idea that ricer fish could grow to such sizes some as long at 7 feet and weighing over 200 lbs! I not only find it enjoyable to watch but also quite educational too. It’s opened my eyes a bit.

More fishy tales.
Another series of chasing down stories about 'man-eaters' that usually turn out to be not. I love the show although not a fisherman myself. It is a combination of travel, psychology, whodunit or 'whatdidit' and stunning scenery. This series has the same format and I have to say I could do without the 'reconstructions' or the faux heightening of tension regarding the fear of being eaten. Apart from the Bull Shark, most of the fish tend not to be man-eaters although they could certainly drown a person, usually inadvertently by mistaken identity. I do like Jeremy Wade as a presenter and his knowledge and enthusiasm makes the series a must watch as far as I am concerned. I look forward to getting the third series.

Love the series, be careful with the DVDs
I ordered the first 3 seasons at the same time. Season 1 and 3 boxes were grand. Season 2 box contained one disc from Season 1 and one from Season 2. Very frustrating, especially since I missed the return window. All were factory sealed too. Buyer beware, check you get the right thing and if gifting for someone else, let them know to check as well.

Fantastic Series
This is a great series, very well organised in interesting habitats that still have much to explore. Jeremy Wade also plays a brilliant part and remins of the Steve Irwin of the angling world. My Nephew is an avid angler at the age of 6 and this will really open his eyes. I think he will love this series as much as I do.

Brilliant
Unlike a lot of programmes, I'd say this gets better by the series; just seeing what's out there has renewed my interest in nature and I hope the subsequent series will be available on DVD soon! *Checks Amazon again*; oh good, one of them will be. I like his style of presenting and his, however brief, exploration of local cultures and customs. It helps make the locations and the fish he's looking for much more interesting.
