Not really a dog whistle if you want a silent whistle only a dog can hear. It has a high but not piercing sound so it's not hard on human ears. My dog responds to it well. He is a rescue and I think he was exposed to a whistle before I got him so he is easy to work with. I like it and easy to keep on my key chain, colorful.

Perfect whistle to get my puppy's attention or stop unwanted behavior.

I"ve been using the less expensive Acme 210.5 and decided to try the Alpha.. It is much easier to blow and can be a bit louder so I can work my Spaniels at greater distance. It really gets their attention when they are locked in chasing swimming ducks, (their worst of many bad habits), and on dry land their recall seems more energetic and focused, which potentially can be a true life saver. Because this whistle has a sharper clearer sound, they seem to pay better attention in all commands and we are both happier when they respond successfully. I recommend this for anyone who is looking to successfully train Spaniels.

Sadly my dog hated this. I gave her high value treats (cheese). She accepted the first treat and then bolted. His under the chair, behind a side table (trapped herself there even), and finally sought refuge in her travel bag. REFUSED to come out and kept giving me dirty looks. I gave the whistle very light pressure, only used it about 4 or 5 times. She said absolutely not. I knew I was taking a risk at this price point but it was highly recommended. I may try whistle training again with a lower frequenc/pitched/was expensive whistle. Also, for this price it should really come. With a lanyard.

I have every kind of whistle you can find on Amazon. Overall I like the ACME the best because of the weight and Pitch. I have had 4 of these, the 210 and 211. My favorite is the 210 and the one I had for years broke. It's rare but they can break where the ring goes through the end of the whistle. My spare 210 didn't sound right, too low and loud and of all things had a pea in it. I didn't want to pay the high price for another 210 but I finally did, nothing else I had was as good. This one is right. Looks great, feels great and has just the right pitch.

Got this whistle to train my dog for an "emergency " come. There have been a few very scary times when we would be on a walk and she would see "her" stray cat friend. She gets REALLY excited to see her friend and if im not expecting it, she has gotten away from me a few times. When this happened she chases the cat wherever it goes and was not responding to the emergency voice cues. When she hears the whistle, she stops in her tracks and comes right back. It doesn't sound like much to my ear but it's been very effective with her. I watched YOUTUBE videos on how to use and train with the whistle..There was also a video that compared the sounds of the different models. I was able.to easily pick out the model that she responded best to. All in all very happy with this purchase. Great tool!!! .

I think it's overpriced for what it is but what are the alternatives? A coaches whistle? That might alarm the neighbors!

Am using it and like how compact it is and the sound of it.
