Great buy
So, I love this mixer. I have used all the attachments to make a variety of recipes and it's done great with every one. It can handle thick cookie dough. I usually don't use it above power level 2 for all my mixing needs. I only go higher for the cookie dough. For everyone complaining about splattering ingredients, USE THE PULSE FEATURE!! The pulse is awesome. It's level 1 speed, but you pulse it like a blender to incorporate ingredients. I usually hit the pulse 5-10 times to incorporate flour into wet ingredients and then go to level 1...guess what? No splatters! The case is awesome too. The thing I liked least about the last hand mixer I used was the storage. The beaters were over here in the drawer and the machine was over here and its cord got tangled in the spoons again... Now everything is in one place and it can stand up. There is a front and a back to it, and sometimes it's harder to get on than others but as long as the front tab clicks over the chrome, it's not falling off. The back door is a cute idea, but not useful in practice. If you're keeping everything in there (like I am) it's difficult to get just one thing in or out and you're better off just putting it in from the top and locking it onto the mixer. In terms of flaws, after the first washing there was rust-colored staining around the joints where the wire beater wires meet the shaft. I'm not worried because the shaft is not going to be in my food, but just making any would-be buyers aware that the quality is not super-duper awesome. Also, the second time I made cookie dough I noticed a smoky smell, but the motor didn't sound off and it kept on mixing. I made sure to give it a break while mixing and back off the power just in case. All in all, this is a good buy for your money.

Speeds are just right for me
I had read reviews that low speed is too fast. I didn't find this to be true. Perhaps it applies individually to whichever one you happen to get. I don't like the storage plastic box for attachments. It is not easy to get it to snap on with everything contained. I just keep the box with attachments in a drawer, along with the mixer. The mixer works great!!

Would have been 5 starts if it was not for the power cord
🤔 used it half dozen + times, kids used it a few times too, no rust, nothing broken, easy to clean, lots of Accessories, did not test on heavy stuff.I do recommend as the mixer has a pretty good value! What I listed down below is over critical, but something as an Engineer I see, maybe #1 is the only thing that kept it getting 5 starts.🤔 here what prevented it from getting five stars, and as a mechanical engineer these thing make me wonder who designed it.. yikes.1. The power cord, they never show it on any pics and I know why! Any cord placements will have some issues, but this cord location makes storing a pain. As the power cord sticks out several inches on the side (making this for right hand only) even after you try to loop inside it's case, while trying to hold it all together, so plan 2" more storage on the width then what it states. 😉 They should have made the cord Decatchable.. this one thing would have made the product go from good to great!2. The storage case, already talked about trying to get the power cord with it, but it how it's own issues! As it's not correct design, you have to take a little extra time to line it up perfect, it holds, but you have to be pretty much right on when you close it all up, case seems like an after though, could have been better as it's the #1 reason I bought the product.3. The release trigger and speed button.. I bumped release button a couple times while handling, not best location mainly due, to how way to forward the speed controll is located, I have big hands, really big and I can not reach the top 3 speeds without adjusting my hand which risk releasing the spinners .

Good value, keeps everything together in a compact form
I bought this thing a while ago, after I had once decided I wanted to bake something and wound up spending a half hour mixing the ingredients by hand and still couldn't get all the lumps out. It sat in my cupboard out of the way, occasionally coming out to make a sauce, smooth a better or whip some cream.Anyway, today, my son asked for crepes. I pulled it out and realized I had not written a review on it yet, so spent sometime thinking about when I have used this thing, while I lazily mixed the batter. If I were doing it by hand I probably would have had more time to recollect, as it was the batter only took a couple of minutes to finish, so I barely had time to think about what I was doing let alone daydream about the sauces of days past.Well, this thing comes in quite handy for the home chef. I don't do enough baking to justify a stand mixer, so I got this little guy, because of how easy it is to keep everything stored together.I am a big fan of the pulse function. I plan to write it into my book of sauce recipes, I think it sounds like a secret move in a video game that unleashes magical powers, the pulse takes your sauce making and baking to a higher level. Okay, maybe not, but what a gimmick huh?Anyway, good mixer, great price.

Handy, dandy, durable, sturdy, convenient mixer. A must-have in your kitchen. And the price is thrifty and right: $24.00 USD
Th., June 21, 2018 11:45 a.m. PDT Hamilton-Beach has updated its handy, dandy hand-held mixer with the addition of two dough hooks and a whisk, in addition to two wire beaters. It is powerful, very easy to assemble, use, disassemble, clean and store. It is compact, very convenient, and very well-designed. The beaters are sturdy and insert easily, and they detach easily via a latch under the beater's handle. It is powerful, with six positions and "burst" button. It comes with a storage bin for the beaters, hooks and whisk and milkshake device that clips to the body of the beater. I have used the dough hooks with great results for bread dough, and the wire beaters did a fast job making whipped cream. At just $24.00 USD, it is an essential tool for your kitchen. It's a great gift for any home cook. It easily works in place of an expensive KitchenAid or Cuisinart heavy-duty mixer. You will find it much easier and much more simple and much more convenient. You will use this everyday. If Amazon.com had TEN stars I'd give this TEN.

I always read the worst reviews first because often the complaints are nit picking
I can't believe I have gone so many years without a hand mixer. I have the mixmaster type, and one of those long hand held ones that can blend gravy or make a milkshake.I did a lot of research for a hand mixer and this is the one I chose. I always read the worst reviews first because often the complaints are nit picking... or they say it like it is right off. This one has plenty enough power with the regular beaters... batter doesn't fly all over... but then common sense says one should use a bowl high enough too. I haven't used the dough hook and frankly don't expect much because I don't think that I can hold my hand and arm rigid enough for dough to mix. I don't think that is the problem of this mixer, I think that would apply to any mixer that is not a mixmaster type with a stand.I've had this mixer a few months and have made good use of it. It stands without flopping over, looks nice, and the power is good, I'm very happy with it. The box that holds the beaters is suppose to click on to the bottom easily. I have not found that. I think it is too snug ... although it was on when I received it. Probably needs just the right move to pop it on right. It is not a real big deal to me. They still sit nicely in the box, just not attached to the bottom of the mixer.I remember my Mom's mixer, and certainly, the mixing attachments are not as heavy as the older ones but work well. Pulse and power levels do the job for me. I'm very happy with this mixer and the price is just right. I can see why it has had good reviews from others.

Dough hooks FTW!
Good, solid mixer. The accessory box stays on fine, as long as you line up the retention tabs. Good power. The beaters are keyed, so put the one with the ring on it in the large hole. My only 'complaint' is that the colour is significantly closer to magenta than the dark purple in the picture.Edit: I admit, I was skeptical. Dough hooks are usually used on stand mixers, just because of the strength involved. But that is a single hook. My hand mixer came with dough hooks; I doubted, but kneading bread is an arduous process, so I gave them a try. They are two hooks, not one, spinning in opposition to each other. They work so well! They pull the dough in and knead it and the way they are spiralled force them out of the dough if you don't hold it down. They don't fling the dough about or put a lot of stress on your hand when you hold the mixer. And because of the spiral, they come out of the dough fairly cleanly.
