The absolute best earbuds on the market (*with an adjustment or two)
There are several reviewers of these earbuds that have expressed frustration with the out-of-the-box sound quality or have generally been underwhelmed by them in comparison to the considerable price tag -- and they are not wrong: when I first tried these upon receiving them yesterday, I thought they were about as good as my AirPod Pros--which are fine for what they are, but for those, I paid less than half of what I paid for the Gemini IIs. So, it's a good thing that I kept reading/researching and eventually discovered that (a) the firmware update awaiting these is crucial to the quality of the sound, particularly the noise cancellation and (b) the dedicated Devialet Gemini app is absolutely necessary, both to completing firmware updates AND to fine-tuning the EQ. (I wish these had blown me away right out of the box, but it did take that update and an EQ adjustment to determine that, of the 30+ bluetooth earbuds I've owned over the last two decades, these pretty much tower above the rest.) I used to be an audio engineer for Dolby, so you would think that I could easily put into words what makes the Gemini IIs so impressive, but it's almost a transcendent experience; you simply have to try them yourself. I'll do my best, though: After futzing with the equalizer and ultimately determining that the Dynamic setting is best for most music, what I heard was astounding clarity and and a sound stage that is simply unrivaled. The bass-to-treble-to-mids ratio was virtually perfect, song to song. I felt enveloped by music in a way I hadn't before with anything wireless. These even rival some of the best studio over-ear monitors I've used in their ability to place the listener in the center of the performance. I got chills -- and my friend, who is not an audiophile, felt the same way when he tried them. The drawback? This is a hefty pricetag for a pair of earbuds -- and I'd never be comfortable working out using them or doing any strenuous activity during which I might sweat on them (I suspect that they aren't really built for this). So, the portability is a bit ironic because there's a limited about of places I'd be comfortable going and physical activities I'd be willing to do wearing these and not worrying about them. (All that said, they are very comfortable, relatively light, and they feel secure in my ears.) But if you are willing to make the investment and can accept that caveat -- and know, going in, that the app is necessary to enriching your experience -- these will likely blow you away. (I'm an audio snob. I think the Audeze i3s are tremendously overrated/overpriced, that the Dunu Studio SA6 MK2s just don't deliver, and that virtually every Bluetooth earbud comes up short in some fashion.) The Devialet Gemini IIs are on a very short list of audio products that have genuinely left my jaw on the floor.

The best sound, not the best overall package.
I purchased and compared the following: Devialet Gemini II, Bowers Wilkins Pi8, and Master Dynamic MW09. The differences below were small, all three are a good buy. The MW09 were the first to get bumped. They had a comparatively small sound stage, and strident treble. The fit was good, and they look like a million bucks. The Pi8 was a little harder to bump. And if you’re not after that last 5-10% then purchase those. They had amazing fit, fantastic sound qaulity, look good, and the app was the best of all 3. The Gemini II. The best true wireless earbuds I’ve heard. The case is super small, the earbuds are also small and the most sleek of the three. The soundstage was big, the treble is detailed and refined. The mids place vocals properly, and naturally. The bass is deep, and punchy, not bloated. They get louder than I need, the noise canceling is the worst of all 3. If your after sound quality first, these are it. Price is whatever. You know who you are, that 5-10% improvement in sound quality is worth it. If you want something that nearly matches the sound quality, is more comfy, and has better anc. Get the Pi8.

Wrong choice
I have bought many TWS earbuds and although I do not consider myself an audiophile, I have pretty extensive experience listening to headphones and IEM's. Apple fans can skip this review, none of their products are even in my top ten. There are so many others that just put them to shame. With that said, I will move on to what I think of the Devialet Gemini 2. Without listening first, I followed advice given in some of these reviews and immediately updated the software as well as upgraded the ear tips. I found them to be very underwhelming. The bass is very good but at louder volumes the sound gets very sibilant. No matter how much I screwed with the presets and the EQ, the highs are just no good. Not exactly terrible, but for the price of these things it is unacceptable. Needless to say, I am not keeping them. If anyone is willing to pay this much money on wireless earphones, let me emphatically suggest the Noble Audio Fokus Mystique. They are in the same price range and they absolutely blow the Devialets and everything similar completely out of the GD water. It's not even close. Everyone seems to love the bass on the Gemini's but the Mystique's are far better...at bass and everything else, including their appearance and fit. The companion app has an EQ that allows you to make them sound pretty muchhowever you want. I believe it's a 7 or 8 band equalizer, unlike the BS you get with brands like Sennheiser. If you are sensitive to the higher end frequencies, you should have no trouble dialing that down. They are hands down the best earbuds I have ever heard. Also, do not be discouraged that they have no ANC. You won't miss it. The sound quality is fantastic and they get LOUD! If one person reads this and takes a chance on them, writing this review will be worth it to me. I strive to find a pair of TWS's better than Noble Audio and so far I have not. I know they exist but I'm not willing to pay the cost.

A normie's take on critical concerns
Super rarely write a review, but there is some divisiveness on this, and I want to share the information that I was looking for based on vague reviews like "it has connectivity issues." I'll give you a super blunt and honest summary. Are these headphones audiophile? I don't know. I just look for things that sound good to me. The sound does sound significantly better than Sony WF-1000XM5 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro I own. It feels more open and gets lauder. Battery a problem? Not for me, and I use it on my PC. Comfort is nice although they often feel like they'd fall out easily. Touch functionality takes getting a bit of time to get used to, but is consistent once you get a feeling for it. Issues: - Some sudden loud noise like a plate hitting against another plate CAN make them enter into some weird state. They'd totally go mute, and I could only fix it by putting them back into the case and taking them out again. Happened once. I read about it somewhere and also managed to accidentally replicate it. It's a thing, but will mainly be an issue if you use them in areas like the kitchen. I had NO issues like that outside of my apartment. - Many times I put them on, there can be a few seconds of them having connection issues. The sound would be choppy, and it resolves itself quickly.

Earbuds for Audiophiles
Considering I’m the first to review, I’ll just say they’re worth it. I was hesitant to purchase because there were no reviews but I’m comfortable being the gerbil. Never owned AirPods except the headphones (AirPods Max) and wanted a more convenient form factor without sacrificing fidelity too much. Was going to get the AirPods but saw Devialet just dropped these last month. Double the price but it’s a 2nd generation earbud (kind of like the AirPod Pro’s) with a high-fidelity background so had to check them out. I was trying to do research on them and all the online tech reviewers just complain about the price and not being as streamlined with Apple products (obviously because they’re not AirPods) but say the sound is top notch. Connected them via Bluetooth and played a song and was like “this doesn’t sound too hot” and was immediately ALMOST regretting my purchase lol. Then I look at the QuickStart guide and it says to download the Devialet Gemini app. Updated the firmware and found the lovely equalizer (something the AirPods don’t have). Played a few more songs and adjusted the high and low end frequency responses to my liking and WOW. For EARBUDS… they deliver on the QUALITY of sound. They’re not the loudest (which really doesn’t matter because they’re noise cancelling) but you can hear every instrument and sound of a song to your liking. Just play around with the equalizer in the app. Really play with it… Case is tiny, stylish (I got the white), it’s USB C, and do not regret the purchase. Expensive, yes. But if you’re looking at these and thinking about it, you can obviously afford it. They’re not going to change your life or cure some disease, but music sounds like it should…

Review you need to read
DO NOT BUY. If you go to a place that has a ton of Bluetooth devices like a gym. You will not be able to use these earbuds. They cut in and out. The connectivity is trash. At home all day they work. They sound alright. Nice punchy deep bass. Can hear all the instruments. Volume is trash. Pi8s are the best sounding in my opinion. Super loud. Almost too loud. You get amazing earbuds for half the price. The connection is awesome and you can walk super far away from your phone and they still work. Only thing wrong about the pi8s is the battery drainage problem. That is fixed with a magnetic charger. Do not use the magnetic charge just leave the piece in the usbc port that fixes the problem on the drainage problem. Anyway, I used the gemenis all day for a day and was upset. I returned them the next day. Save your money and time. DO NOT BUY. I repeat DO NOT BUY.

These earbuds are fantastic when they work
So after doing a lot of research on different types of earbuds after my M&D started failing after 3 years I decided to go with the Devialet Gemini II. They fit my ears perfectly having chosen the wright size tips. The sound is unbelievable and thanks to equalizer in the app you can adjust the sound to to what you like. The battery life is good. One of the issues I have with it is there is no tracking of your earbuds within the app in case you misplace them. It is also hard to find protective cases. After 3 months with these earbuds and having them replaced once already I can truly say that they are not ready for prime time. For the price of $500 these earbuds have major connectivity issues. They randomly drop the Bluetooth connection and it is worst if you are in an area with a lot of noise. After having spoken to a Devialet representative they seem to think this is normal. I should be able to use my earbuds anywhere I want without noise interfering on how these earbuds function. Apparently this is a known issue with Devialet since multiple people are complaining of the same problem. I have had different brands and never had these issues. I have contacting them today one more time and am awaiting a response. Hopefully they have a solution. These are the worst earbuds I have ever had

The Best - Gemini 11
First a big shout out to Devialet Customer Service team. I had an issue with the left earbud making a connection with the case. I reached out to there CS dept. and instead of trying to diagnose the issue they told me to send them back and they would send me a new pair. I returned my earbuds to New York, but the new buds were shipped out from France the next day UPS express and of course if i didn't have bad luck i would have no luck at all they were held up in customs in France. I reached out to Devialet CS Dept. in the morning and within a couple of hours they had been released and were on their way. Two days later I received them. First let me say that I am a Audiofile I love music and I care about sound foremost and everything else is just a bonus. I will touch on the ANC it is a 8 out of 10 comparing to Sony's WF-1000XM5 which are the best as far as ANC goes. Devialet App is very good with the ability to change what each tap of left and right bud does ( pause, play etc.) and equalizer that is very responsive with several presets that are available or you can customize your own settings. Now for the sound it is truly the best I have heard from a set of earbuds, and I have had some premium earbuds including as mentioned the Sony WF-1000XM5, Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX, Technics AZ80 and B&W PI 7 S2. The Soundstage is wide with instruments well placed within the soundstage. Bass is deep and tight and punches between your ears to rattle your brain. The only Bass that I have heard to be equal would be the B&O Beoplay's. Instruments are crisp and clean piano well piano sounds like a piano, kick drum sounds like a kick drum you get the idea these buds just rock. Are they worth the price? Yes, if you want the best sounding buds currently on the market.
