This thing is perfect!
I have a Dell Inspiron 3000 series (3593). Before you decide to order it, there are a few things you need to make sure of. 1. Your laptop must be able to receive a female 4.5 mm barrel jack. If the part number on your OEM Dell Power Supply is ‘LA45NM140’, then this should work in your laptop. That doesn’t mean that other model numbers won’t work. I’m just confirming it does effectively replace my OEM. 2. I believe this will accommodate both 45W and 90W power supply’s. I am using it to replace a 45w OEM power supply. 3. If you want to power the laptop and charge it at the same time, you’ll want to use a power brick that delivers slightly more output than 45W or 90W respectively depending on your setup. I am using a 65W power brick that seems to be charging my 45W machine just fine. If I were using a 90W machine, then this wall adapter would not be sufficient. I only mention this because I can’t help but wonder if that’s where some of the difficulty lies with some of these reviews. 4. All USB-C to USB-C cables are not equal. Some are rated for 100W. Others are only rated for 60W or less. If you are using a 90W machine, then you need a cable that can handle 100W. Once those boxes are checked, I don’t see any reason this wouldn’t work for you. I’ve had it plugged in on and off for the last couple days and so far my laptop hasn’t started smoking. If something changes, I will report back, but meanwhile I just reclaimed a ton of space in my briefcase. Next time I buy a laptop, it will have USB-C PD port, but I hope this solution will bridge the gap for 2 years. I don’t have any reason to upgrade right now. Hope this helps someone.

A Mixed Bag: A flawed, but functional, adapter
This one is a tricky thing to review, because though it has some iffy elements, at the end of the day, it DOES WORK. That is, owing to a design oddity of many Dell laptops, wherein there's a separate power port, yet the OEM adapter is for the USB-C port, but you happen to need that USB-C for something, you still at least have some way to plug that power charger in. Yeah, kind of a mouthful there. But there are two big design issues with the adapter that need to be known. First, it has a tendency to heat up. Now, in fairness, you shouldn't have your laptop plugged in any longer than it takes to charge the battery to capacity, much the same as with cell phones. So hopefully, that's not long enough to heat this thing to a level that would be damaging either to your laptop or your adapter. But still! Devices like this shouldn't heat up like that. Second issue? Size. What's strange is this adapter sticks out of the plug by a good 0.3-0.4 mm. It goes all the way, but there's a little ... "overhang"? It was enough to make worry that this adapter wasn't actually compatible, but ... no, again, it still works - my laptop still charges from this adapter plug-in. Probably not quite as fast as it does when my power adapter is attached through the USB-C, but at a respectable clip. So the manufacturers here have delivered us a mixed bag. This may be a case of "chabuduo" (差不多), just "good enough" to get the job done, but in need of fine-tuning. Hopefully, future versions of this adapter will have the heat issue resolved, and they'll be better sized to fit without the "overhang". But for now, if you just need something that can get the job done, and those two issues don't seem like deal-breakers for you, then I can recommend this adapter.

Kind of correct
Is the correct plug for Dell XPS but will not negotiate any wattage other than 100w. So if you don't already have the 100w charger, pass.

Blame it on Dell
Adapter works as it should, but my Dell laptop throws up an error message about the power supply every time it reboots. This is a nuisance when it reboots in the middle of the night and sits there with the screen brightly lit until morning. It has a multipurpose "Thunderbolt" port in addition to a normal power supply barrel port. The thunderbolt is supposed to operate as a video port, USB-C port, or a power input port. The Dell came with a power supply made to plug into the thunderbolt port, making it useless for anything else, thus the reason I bought this adapter. In the future, I would not buy a Dell with this feature as it reduces your available ports by providing the alternate supply.

Perfect for my Dell Inspiron.
My Dell Inspiron 5430 has a USB-C connector for charging, but also a secret 4.5mm barrel connector. I bought this adapter to use so I can keep the USB free for other uses while charging. It works flawlessly. No problems - perfect fit, unhampered charging, and simple to use. I consider it a good value as well.
