Fine Knife
A very fine knife. I wanted a single edge blade--this is sharpened on the right side as you hold the knife. Good handle. Cuts nicely. made in China.

The jury is still out...
I am still not committed on going all out for this knife, not yet anyway. I like the knife, but I have no expereience with this brand, so I cannot speak to longevity, durableness, or the knife's ability to hold an edge, or how it will hold up to sharpening. That said, here are my initial thoughts. The first thing I needed to get used to is the ridge along the handle. This is obviously placed with ergonomics and knife control in mind, but I was not so sure I liked it at first. This is my first experience with a knife that has that ridge in the handle. After using it several times, I can say I am getting used to it. I still need to determine if that ridge causes my cuts to go to the left. I find myself doing that with this knife, and I am wondering if the ridge in the handle is what is causing that. When I cut with intention, I am able to control the knife so that is cuts straight down. Considering I am handling a kinfe, I guess I should always put intention into what I am cutting... I haven't sharpened the blade just yet, but will be doing so when I notice the knife losing its edge sharpness. I will update with my experience. I did read other opinions on the knife, so I will also be watchful for other quality issues, like handle durability. I am not ready to recommend this knife just yet. I need more experience before I can do that or not. In the meantime, thank you for reading my review.

STOP HERE AND BUY THIS KNIFE!
This is, without doubt, the finest knife in my collection, and it is worth ever dime of it's cost. It came to me sharp as a straight razor It is nice and heavy, the rosewood handle is easy to handle and the blade has a full tang through the handle. I proved this with a strong magnet. I immediately tested this knife with tomatoes, a raw round of beef, a cabbage, and other things. IT IS SUPERB in all respects!!! Also: The single bevel of the cutting edge is correct for a right handed user. (quite rare) Without going into several mote small details here (of which there are more), the quality and thought that has gone into this knife will only be obvious to you after using it and examining it in close detail. CONCLUSION: It is not very often that I am able to give such a high rating to a product, but this one deserves a whole bunch of stars. Buy it and you will never look back! You will treasure it!

Beautiful craftsmanship, sharp and towards the top of my favorite knives
This is a beautifully crafted, single bevel knife. The rosewood handle is very attractive and the weight and balance of the knife is near perfect. It is made of German carbon stainless steel and comes with an impressively sharp blade. I’m not much of a chef however, I do a fair amount of butchering and meat processing. All of my butcher knives are between 20 and 30 years old and I decided to upgrade a few of them. I ordered some new knives, this being one of them. While this is not my favorite and certainly not the best one, it is beautiful craftsmanship and I would rate it as my top knife in terms of looks and appearance. I would say it is likely my third in terms of cutting quality. That being said, it is also considerably less expensive than many of my knives. If you were looking for the most bang for your buck, this Deba knife is definitely a winner. I suspect the typical, non-professional home chef would find this a five star rated blade. It cuts nicely, is well balanced, and is ready to use out of the box. The quality and durability of this knife will likely last a typical homeowner a lifetime, so long as they’re careful not to use it on their granite countertop or a hard surface composite cutting board. With proper care and sharpening, this could be the last knife you would ever buy.

Impressive but flawed
I ordered this for a fish knife and I'm super impressed! The handle wood is beautiful and looks even better with a light coat of mineral oil. It came extremely sharp and ready to use out of the box. The thickness of the steel and its well-balanced weight make it exceptionally effective, especially when tackling whole fish. However, the knife I received has a notable flaw that escaped quality control—a burr near the base of the blade. Given that this is a single bevel knife, addressing the issue isn't a straightforward task; it would require re-profiling and removing a significant amount of metal from the stock edge. Despite this hiccup, the knife's overall performance is impressive, and it has become a valuable tool in my kitchen. If not for the burr issue, it would have been a flawless addition. For those considering this knife, I recommend a thorough inspection upon arrival to ensure the edge is not damaged.

Solid knife, but be aware of what single bevel is before buying! Not intended for left handed use!
This knife looks and feels very nice, and the blade comes nearly razor sharp. Although it says this right in the description that this is single bevel, please be aware of what a single bevel knife is before buying. Only one side of the blade is finished and sharpened, and none of the sellers pictures show this. The back side of the blade is completely flat which is traditional for Japanese knives. The handle has a very nice weight to it and looks fantastic also has a taper on the back side which most likely is for the comfort of right handed users. This type of knife is not intended for left handed use, so be aware of that before buying. The knife also comes in a very nice box with a microfiber towel.

Precision in Every Slice
As someone who frequently cooks at home, I can confidently say that this knife is unbelievably high quality. After it was delivered to my home, the first thing I did was wash it thoroughly with dish soap. Then, to test it out, I chopped onions and tomatoes for dinner. The result was incredible. Extremely sharp, easy to grip and use thanks to the wood handle. I'm impressed with the quality of the steel used; it's a heavy duty steel, and I hope it won't rust. You don't need to be a chef to use this knife; it makes you feel like one when you use it. Thumbs up!
