Super rigid, super capable, super value.
Fantastic machine, dont be fooled by its small size, it is built like a brick... well you know the saying. The only downside is the spindle it comes with is pathetic, that said it keeps the cost of the base machine down. Definitely put either a genmitsu ER11 spindle or a Maktia router in this and you will be able to cut even steel with not much problem. It would be great if Sainsmart sold an enclosure for this as when running a trim router it can get very noisy indeed, they do sell one for smaller machines but not this one sadly. For the price point of this machine you're getting a really decent package. Most hobby users looking to use this for metal machining will find it suites them perfectly. Especially when paired with a good quality vice such as the Inception Machines one. Id avoid the sainsmart vices as they dont fit the hole profile of the bed on the 3030 prover max. That said its not that difficult to drill and tap a few more holes. Structurally this machine doesnt use aluminium profiles it uses L shaped solid bars. This makes it a lot more rigid and a lot more straight, so you'll be cutting much more accurate cuts from this. The Z travel is a bit shorter than what id like but it does keep the machine rigid and theres clever ways to work around it anyway. Overall im very happy I think its a great little machine that im going to get lots of use out of. If you are considering buying a CNC machine for milling metal get this one. Its priced very reasonably and it doesnt need any upgrades other than the spindle, and you can use this to upgrade the rest of your workshop.

Great machine - complex for beginners
My husband has been wanting to start this as a hobby for some time. We already have experience with 3D printers, so we figured that something like this would be relatively easy to set up, after all, it's billed as being a good machine for beginners. Yes, I can hear some of you already chuckling. The machine was relatively easy to put together - it took my husband around an hour or so. The instructions are clear, although he had to refer to some online videos to double check the wiring positions as it's not obvious in the included instructions. It's a slight annoyance that a computer needs to be connected to the machine to read the files. An interface would've been better - there is one available to purchase separately and I may well look at getting this in the future. There's an included USB stick containing software and some sample files to install on your PC. Sadly the included instructions don't extend to the usage of the software - it's a little like being given an extreme version of, ahem, photo...shop and being told to figure it out yourself. There's a lot of trial, error and searching the internet hoping someone, somewhere can help. Ours didn't work straight out of the box once the software was installed. We had every error code known to man and it refused to touch the included probe to even get started. There was much frustration and hair pulling, but 10 hours later we eventually got the sample printed. It was a joyous event. It's possibly the first time I've seen my husband reduced to tears. It looks ok - I'm not blown away but it's a start. Being new to this, we're currently at the mercy of the router bits provided, although I've now ordered more. The included bits are all the same and seem to be for lighter engraving work. I've already ordered a variation of router bits as my husband is eager to try more designs. It would've been nice had a variety of bits been included. Overall it's a good machine, if not frustrating for a beginner. It's complicated to set up the software, for the price I feel an interface of some sort should be included and it could do with more router bits to get started. Having said that, with a lot of perseverance and research, I'm hopeful we can get this working wonderfully well.

Good Machine
Nice little machine, easy to setup and get going, Ridged enough to do soft metals like Aluminium and the support was good when i had issues with it, however it would be good to have longer power cables, longer cables to offline controller this would allow more flexibly with the placement of them and allow better enclosures. it would also be good to have the y limit switch connect directly to the control board and have the frame be earthed not feeding negative which the touch probe is also on meaning if you are using XYZ plate to probe on metal you will need to use something to isolate it

Very easy to assemble, solid construction.
Assembled in 10-15 minutes. One small criticism, the MDF bed flexes a little in the middle of the table, but a 18mm spoilboard will take care of that. Couldn't use my preferred control software (Openbuilds Controller), but works perfectly on Candle(supplied). This is an upgrade from my 3018 Prover, well pleased.

Review: Sainsmart Genmitsu 3030 CNC I purchased the Sainsmart Genmitsu 3030 CNC in April 2024 and really enjoy using it. I had no previous experience with CNC machines as my career was in Human Resources. I was just looking for something new to learn in retirement for a hobby. This is a versatile and powerful machine that has impressed me with its capabilities. Some other information that I have read suggest that the 3030 was designed to be used for metal work but I have only used it to do carvings on woods such as Basswood, Oak, Walnut, Cherry, and Mahoganey. Three features that I really like about the 3030 are: 1) The Precision and Accuracy of the machine. It uses dual linear guides and ball screws within the X, Y, and Z axes which I understand is better than some other designs. 2) The 3030 CNC was really easy for me to set up and begin using right out of the box. {And it was packaged very well.) I was able to run my first project within a few hours of receiving it. The 3030 has proven to be quite durable with minimum maintenance required during the nine months I have used it. {This includes many hours of use...sometimes many hours daily.) There are a couple of areas that may cause concern for some users depending on the materials being used and location of the machine. 1) Noise Level: The machine can be quite noisy during operation, which might be a concern for those working in shared or quiet environments. (I don't know that this can be improved on because after all it is a router.) 2) Limit Switch Issues: Although this has not been a problem for me some users have indicated occasional issues with the limit switches, which can affect the machine's performance. (This only seems to be those that machine metal which have particles falling into the limit switches...I personally have not had these issues with wood.) One other thing I would like to mention is the excellent customer service that Sainsmart has provided me with the 3030 along with my Genmitsu L8 20 Watt laser, (especially Jamie, the agent I have communicated with in the past.) They have been responsive, helpful, and gone above and beyond to ensure my satisfaction on any questions I have submitted by email. I would recommend the Sainsmart Genmitsu 3030 CNC both beginners and experienced users.
