Works as advertised
The portal feels lighter than it looks, feels a lot like dualsense PS5 controller. After a firmware update, you no longer are required to own a PS5 to use this product, as long as you have a Playstation plus premium subscription. With the subscription, you're allowed to use the beta feature to stream certain selected games (around 100). The portal functions like a Wii U gamepad essentially & it shows whatever is on your PS5 displayed on the portal screen. The portal will not play cloud streaming games if you try to access them through the PS5, nor will it function with any media apps. I started using my portal by connecting it to my PSN account. Then I made sure I used an ethernet cable for my PS5, because it allows for a smoother experience & lets you use the portal anywhere there's wifi available. I have not tested the quality of this feature, but I have spent dozens of hours playing games at my house when my gf or roommates are using the tv my PS5 is set up with. If several people are using the broadband then the portals connection to the PS5 will become unstable, but I can safely say that this is not a frequent issue. There's a bit of a delay but honestly it's not that much worse than modern wireless controller input delay. I wouldn't think to play games online with my portal but I've played a ton of elden ring on it & it feels great. I love handheld consoles but this isn't really a console, it's mostly an accessory. Despite that, I really enjoy it. It's hard to recommend to people because most people will be content playing their Playstation library on their tv screen, but if you live with several people & don't own several tvs, then it's a nice option for gamers.

Needs Wi-Fi do not get it if you don’t have good Internet connection
If you love the PSP you’re gonna love this. Yes it takes Wi-Fi, but it is so fun to just play your games anywhere around the house and take them to other places as long as you have good Wi-Fi you will be able to do that. I’ve had no issues at all. Battery life is amazing. I plan it for at least that I will and it only hits 87%. It’s super fun to use and it’s just fun.

I love this thing, but not for everyone.
I love the PS Portal. I didn't get it. I still don't. But I love it. Pros: - Can game anywhere in your home wifi network pretty well. Graphics look almost as good as the PS5. It has had a few drop outs while in the bathroom for some reason and it stutters. But generally only has happened a few times. - Works decently on phone hotspot. It's playable, granted it hiccups more than I'd like it too. And the graphics don't look as sharp as home network. - Feels like playing PS5 on the go, in bed, or lying on the couch. Almost the same graphical power and look- it doesn't look quite as good as tv but it's very close- especially coming from the antique switch. Cons: - No browser, so you have to use hotspot/wifi over connecting it directly while on restaurant/hotel wifi - No blu tooth audio, that's a big issue, but maybe due to latency? Wired headphones work great though. - No downloadable playable media. If it had this, this game system would be the king. - Hard to get (check out the app Hotstock. I found one in less than two days casually looking on the app). - Screen is quite reflective, so hard to play outside in the sun. - It sometimes drops wifi connection and it's laggy or slow during those moments, not great for multiplayer games where speed and accuracy is an asset. - It takes around 20-30 seconds to boot up. So if you're a grab and play for a few minute kind of person, huge disadvantage vs a switch, where I could pick it up and play immediately for 5-10 minutes. This is a bit more of a time commitment. - YOU HAVE TO keep your PS5 on rest mode or this won't function at all. If you have a home power outage while on a trip, you're carrying around a portal for nothing. Not only does it need to be on, but you need to be logged into your account on your machine. - My hands aren't quite as large so the controller is a little big in my hands compared to the smaller switch, so it's a little less comfortable, but doesn't bother me that much. - get a case, this thing is big and more delicate. The case makes it feel really solid. I got a clear case with a screen protector, it's nice. Reasons I got a Portal: I love handheld gaming - I've played my switch 90/10 to my ps5. My biggest drawback to using a switch or a steam deck, I like being able to play on the TV and on handheld- but the switch has huge graphical drawbacks, so I never hooked it up to the TV. It's really cool to have your games all be on one cohesive network of games and saves. The screen is really nice and looks about as nice as playing on my TV. Anyone that approaches this with an open-mind will love it. I'll probably keep my switch for trips and keep the portal at home for playing in bed or lying on the couch. I've enjoyed it- once they get a PS5 connected handheld that can download games and create a cloud saving- I'm completely in.

Great companion for my PS5!
The initial impression of this device centers on straightforward setup and a strong display for the games I enjoy. Out of the box, syncing with my PlayStation 5 required about five minutes. I adjusted the remote settings on my PS5, and once the portal joined my network, everything aligned quickly. I appreciate the screen’s resolution, which closely matches my PS5. The screen is integrated into the controllers, reducing the chance of losing attachments. The layout and size mirror the standard controller, making it easy to use because I am already familiar with it. Battery life is sufficient; I recently finished two 30-minute games without recharging. Overall, this product suits any PS5 owner seeking a portable option to continue gaming on the road. The grips and controllers resemble the PS5, which is a major benefit. I have no current issues or concerns.

Long review, but it's amazing
I 100% bought this because I'm an Elden Ring fan (PS5). I didn't want to be tied down to the loft all the time either. For reference, my Internet has 4 waypoints throughout the house (2 upstairs and 2 down), and a router on the outside of the house (Breaker box - Yeah, my first experience with that, too). Here's my legitimate experience: This thing is awesome. Gameplay is absolutely seamless. It acts as a controller if you're sitting right in front of the TV. I tested it with PvP (Person vs Person) online play, and also seamless. The only complaint I have is when I'm in my bedroom and the door is closed, every now and then I'll get an "Internet is Weak" symbol. But if you play online, it's very mild and semi resembles lag for a second. Then it's back to being good. Other than that, all rooms (Including the garage) work well. As an online player, I have to steas that's a minor inconvenience, I have not been kicked from an online game. I have not tried playing remotely from another WiFi source, so I can't give a review on that portion. BUT, this has 100% met my needs. Screen quality is the same as my TV (Sony, 2023 Smart TV), linking it to my PS5 was surprisingly easy, and all games were available. 100% wish I had known about this before. If you're an avid player, definitely a freedom piece to roam your house/apartment.

Great addition to the PS family!
I've been really enjoying the PlayStation Portal overall. I got the black version, and it looks really nice in person. It feels comfortable in my hands, and the fit is basically like using a regular PlayStation controller with a screen in the middle (although, the sticks are a little smaller). It's not too heavy either, so I can play for a while without it getting uncomfortable. The build quality feels solid and durable, and the battery life has been pretty good. I'm getting around 6 hours from a charge, which is plenty for how I use it. My biggest complaints are that you really need PS Premium to make full use of the Portal's features, and you can't easily replace the analog sticks. If you eventually get stick drift, you're kinda stuck having to repair the whole thing instead of just swapping the sticks out. Other than that, it looks great, feels good to use, and is really convenient when I don't want to play directly on my TV. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5.

A must buy
I got this as a gift for my partner. He loves it! Excellent display, feel the games in your hand. I'm definitely getting one for myself. It's bigger than I thought it would be. about 5 hours game time, battery life, no slip, lightweight.

Lost potential/money dump
This has a lot of potential but profits nerfed this potentially OP'ed remote player. I got this because I have a child who spends half their time over at the other parents house and we sometimes wanna play COD zombies together but their side of the family doesn't have a console to play on. I thought since I got us a PS5 I could simply get a portal and they could play whenever they were visiting their mom.. unfortunately, being the money hungry industry this is, they made it so you absolutely must get a basic ps online account and if you wanna connect another portal you must upgrade the account to the plus so one acts as a remote player while the other uses the play station plus storage to play. All this is nice and all but, some of us can't afford this stuff and just wanna use this for what it was intended to be used for. Bonding with your loved ones and having a fun time, but unfortunately these large corporations just don't care about those little moments.. so all I have to say is be careful if you do decide to get this, because it's a lot more expensive than you think, just to get it set up. So much lost potential, plus they could of made this even better by making it so one can play games offline too, instead of catering to Nintendo, they could of made a switch eliminator.

It's Genuine and Authentic Product
Chat with the seller and discuss all your queries before buying like I did. Its authentic product and works perfectly. There will be no warranty on this product though because you are buying from third party. Now when it comes to PS Portal it's an accessories not and handheld don't get confused or deluded by negative brain dead comments by illiterate users......its for time crunch on your games when you are not using PS5 and while you are travelling. Just connect your PS5 to ethernet with strong internet connection and your good to go. Perfect if you wanna play while you are away from your home and wanna play games of your console.

Very good.
Works well, but you need to make sure that you have an internet speed AT LEAST 5 Mbps before using it outside the house, or it'll be very laggy and won't connect.
