Cambodian Lemongrass Paste - sofi™ Award Winner (6oz)

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I have this product on subscription. For a quick great soup, I simmer chicken broth and coconut milk with chicken and vegetables. When it's ready to eat, I stir in a spoonful of this mixture, and serve. It's always delicious. If I had to gather all the items in this mix and prepare them, and use them before they go bad, I would really miss this soup.

Our local Vietnamese restaurant closed over 5 years ago and I have been looking to replicate their lemongrass chicken recipe for years. I've searched dozens of cookbooks, websites, videos, and all the recipes came up short. We grew lemongrass which I've used but that's seasonal so what to do. I found a recipe of Jamie Oliver's and another in a cookbook I got at an estate sale. I combined elements from both recipes with great success. It's not the same but it's much closer than I've ever gotten. This paste is the key and I am so grateful to have found it That dish is now a staple in our home. The adaptation from Jamie's green curry is to use a yellow onion cut into quarters and then sliced and to add a smidge of powdered sugar.

This loose paste contains lemongrass and also galengal, lime, onion, turmeric and jalapeno. (The loose texture is not a problem; it's just not a thick paste.) One tablespoon of this roughly equates to one 4-inch length of lemongrass and is perfect for dishes such as beef rendang that call for both lemongrass and galengal (if, like me, you don't always have them fresh to hand).

Never knew how delicious lemongrass paste could be- and this was the first one I ever tried and also the best I’ve tried.

This is a high quality and easy substitute for fresh lemongrass. I think we'll never go back to fresh, since this is so much easier and just as flavorful.

I don’t know if they change the formula ingredients to this, but I remember it smelling more lemongrass . This batch i just recently bought smells more fishier than the other times i bought and before it was also more blended of a liquid paste but this batch is more chunk.
