Faulty, missing part

Great for finding Metal in the Garden

This is my first time buying a metal detector and this is a great one for first timers. Went out with my daughters and found a lot of metal deep in the ground. We even found old coins. The down side is the spade it is made out of cheap metal and it snapped but the rest is great. I would give it a 5 but the spade is not great at all and we had go home to get a stronger one.

Opened it, assembled it. Nicely built for the price. Put batteries in, and tried it. Firstly, despite how you adjust the controls, it would beep randomly. The coil is 3 feet in the air, and its beeping and the needle moving wildly. Thought I had sussed out the controls with a bit more twiddling. But then tried to detect my car. Nothing. Not a beep, or needle waggle. I put metal items on a wooden surface and just random beeps. Hold it over an item, and the beeps come and go. I am pretty sure it is just set to beep randomly. I lay it on the table, and with no one touching it it would beep away to itself. Returned.
