If FFX and LotR had a baby...
This is one of those games, that people are either going to love, or hate. There's not much middle ground. For me, I absolutely adore the game! It's the bees knees and one of, if not THE best RPG experience on the PS2, and that's counting the Xenosaga series! The game obviously rips off FFX in terms of gameplay and graphics, but blends in the rich fantasy world of Lord of the Rings! It's a completely new story, that runs alongside the events of the film. So, actions that occur in the film, might impact your characters journey in this PS2 classic RPG.Now, if you hate LotR, or hate Final Fantasy 10, then there is a good chance you won't like this. However, if you like either, or even both, then you owe it to yourself to get this game and play it all night long!

Excellent for a PS2 turn-based RPG
This game is so awesome! I bought it initially when it came out years ago, but times got hard and had to sell it (along with my other games) to get by. I bought another copy of it from a local store that's been excellent to me, but that particular game apparently had a scratch in it deep enough to mess up the game and it would just stall out whenever I tried to enter Eastern Moria. I was incredibly disappointed, as the copy I had was the only copy my local store had. Within minutes, I was on Amazon, found this game, and ordered it. In a week, it was on my doorstep! And I've been playing ever since. :) If you enjoy RPG's and you can handle a turn-based combat game similar to FFX, then you'll like this. The graphics are pretty par for the course for the PS2, but the game makes up for it by having all kinds of customization options. The skill trees are pretty straightforward (which I prefer, instead of being the intricate stuff like FFX and FFX-2). One tip: whenever you finish a level, travel travel travel! More battles will level you up faster and help you learn skills faster. And if it's a new game and your max AP is low, just stick near a save point and keep saving your game to reset your HP and AP to max. ;) I swear, I know this game inside and out, and I'm so glad to have it back in my collection!

Stuck
There's this weird loading screen when you press "New game" that doesn't let you actually play the game. I've restarted the console and put a new memory card in but I still can't play the game I bought :(

LoR Third Age good for thumb clutzes
LOR Third Age is and addicting game. The story gets a little cheesy at times, but it is worth hours of entertainment. It is great for those of us who like to be involved in the story of video games but don't have the thumb dexterity to hit x, o, L1, right left at break neck speed. It is fun to build characters' skills and abilities and decide how exactly to administer the process.I wish there were more fantasy or comic themed games that didn't involve super-fast fighting - where I could make intellectual decisions that impel interesting action.

Great product-like new!!
Charlotte did an amazing job ensuring my game was in like new condition! I think it’s really neat this company hires individuals like Charlotte who are in high school as it gives them a chance to learn real world working skills and also enjoy what they are doing (working with video games!). I am so thankful to receive the product as it was described. I will definitely be checking out Selling Fun LLC whenever I am on the search for anything that they may sell. Thank you again and make sure Charlotte gets a nice raise and bonus as she deserves to be rewarded for her spectacular work :-)!

Great game - Trouble with Backwards compatibility.
If you like turn based RPGs or Lord of the Rings, I would highly recommend this game. This game has turn based combat, which allows you to decide what move would be most effective, and give you time to make strategic moves. The graphics and combat are pretty good for a PS2 game.I do like the fact that you can customize armor and weapons as you pick them up. It is also possible to have extra heroes in your party (3 heroes in combat, 3 on the 'sidelines') and you can switch them out mid battle as the situation changes. Haven't found another turn based RPG anywhere close to as good at LOTR: The Third Age!

If your a fan of the FILMS this is for you.
If you are a hardcore follower of the books, then sadly you may be disappointed with the "lore breaking". Although if you are a fan of the Films on the other hand, then this is one for you. Also if you are into RPG's then this is also for you. Frankly there are flaws with this game mostly from a Film to Book Comparison, but as an old PS2 or Xbox game goes, its actually pretty good. Its got lots of story, customization, and weapons and armor, and a great cast of characters. I have played through it multiple times and would recommend it to any RPG or LOTR Fan
