This seems like a gimmick but is very useful.
I did not test accuracy of the device, I already have a BOSCH laser that is really good, but i got this one just because of the finding center feature. I hit my head multiple times into finding center in all kind of cases but the worst is to do the ceiling center, measure calculate, then live measure and find one axis then to the same for the second axis and then make sure you put the sign in the cross section. With this one you get on the ladder at approximate center of the room and then find center and mark. easy. one feature i would love to have is to set from the unit a percentage you want to measure at, for example set to 20%/80% for a special measurement, or set to 5 parts of a whole, so you measure the entire wall and then every 20% of that length you make a sign. Of course you can calculate but it would be awesome to have out of the box. One thing i don't like is that measurement in live mode it's pretty slow, so it takes a bit to find the spot you are looking for.

Worth for the money.
I don't know why when people review a product, they tend don't review the app when the product is attached with it.I am not one of those people and I review the hardware + the software. This product is an amazing for my work needs. It finds center points in seconds, record measurement into the app less than 1 second. It allows end user to take image and put measurement with a single button. All you need is a Bluetooth connection from your phone to the app if you choose to use the app, otherwise use the unit stand alone. For the price, I bought it at $150 I stead of $200 originally. I know other simular functions even better but at least $400 to $700 dollars of which amazing of converting DXF (works with any CAD software such as SolidWorks, Chief Architect, etc).I am a 42 married man, anything over $100 dollars and up I have to think it twice before ordering it whereas I never looked at the price while I was single. This unit price is a compromise price, not too high and not too low for the worth of the unit.

This tool will make my job so much easier and professional
I would give the Bilateral Laser Distance Meter 4.5 stars. I hesitate giving it a full 5-satrs only because the level bubbles are quite small and almost impossible to see in dim light. A back light for them would be all I need to raise my review to 5 stars. This tool is so useful and versatile. It makes almost any measuring job easy. The included carry holster is convenient and protective. Almost all of the criticisms I read before purchasing are not valid. There is an instruction video on Youtube that negates almost every one of them. Watching that video is a must. My only criticism is that it is too accurate. Not a bad thing to be criticized for. Really though, in fraction mode, it measures to 1/64th of an inch. That's too fine for me. I wish it only read to 1/16th of an inch. 1/64th makes it inconvenient to convert to 16ths as that is what my measuring tape uses. An option to control the the accuracy would be really nice. Excellent product. So glad I purchased it.

Great Measuring Technology
Construction technology just keeps getting better. The end-to-end measuring capability and built-in construction computer for volume and area are great. One reviewer suggested using a tripod to improve accuracy, but I would definitely use a monopod instead. With the built-in bubble levels, it would be much easier and quicker.

Very nice. As advertised.
This device is highly accurate. It gives measurements into the 64ths of an inch. That's overkill for the common construction person like me. A 16th is fine. It is fairly easy to use and takes a little getting used to, but it works well. I think it is worth buying as long as it doesn't break.

Difficult to select mode
It is very accurate. Many useful calculation functions.A single button controls at least a dozen functions and it is impossible to tell which one you’re going to.The lasers constantly turn off. Just as you get it lined up the lasers go off and then you lose your alignment trying to get them back on.One of the issues is the hard, smooth plastic body. The very slightest touch and the unit moves, holding it in place while pressing buttons is virtually impossible.Because of the number of functions and even Bluetooth connection to my smart phone with the downloadable app, I will probably glue a thin piece of rubber or cork to the body to stop it from spinning and sliding so easily.I like the device and recommend it but warn about the difficulty of a one button menu for a dozen or more options.

Cannot accurately measure
1. There is not a way to accurately measure, for example, the distance between two walls. The device takes a measurement at the instant you press a button (either while it is showing you the intermediate measurements or not). There is no way to hold your hand perfectly still, while you press the button to lock in a measurement. This makes the area, volume, etc. calculations worthless. You could use a tripod to help with this accuracy problem, but then it loses many of its convenience advantages.2. There is no way to know when you are holding the device at a right angle to a wall. If you are off by a couple degrees your measurement may be off by several inches. I wouldn't want to depend on a measurement like that to have a window cut for an opening, like one of the online videos implies. You can see the laser dots on the wall, but you can't (normally) see the laser beams leading up to the wall. It is impossible to watch the bubble levels on the device at the same time. I suspect the bubble levels were added because the developers had this same problem, but they apparently did not verify that their change actually fixed the problem.Executive summary: The device is a clever idea, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe a future similar product will address these issues, either by this company or some other company. It is too bad, because these things could easily be fixed in software in the device.

exactly what you need
It was a little confusing at first, but once one learned how to get what one wanted it is a great device.
